  1. So the storm that rolled through about 12:30pm Today turned out to be a supercell, and it even produced a funnel/Tornado, there were confirmed reports of a touchdown including some damage towards the Brading/Yaverland area. Here is a time lapse from our very own local webcam, this is looking ENE from our Lake cam https://www.facebook.com/iwmetservice/videos/783229639665231
  2. They were my friends photos but we work together but kindly let me share, I have about 30+ videos to sort through tryna find the best ones! But that lightning last night was just mesmerising!
  3. Good Afternoon. Last night was a truly spectacular night! Some of the best thunder and lightning I've ever seen! We first set out about 7:30pm first going over to Freshwater bay over at West Wight, First witnessed a beautiful shelf cloud which was huge, as well as this with some lovely lightning, a mix of intra cloud and powerful cg's! When we got to our location we ended up under a hut looking straight out to sea, as further storms was developing further east directly towards us. We was treated with some absolute belter CG'S very close with explosive thunder! It was kinda scary but well worth it. The rain arrived which was torrential which caused some local flooding which we had to walk through back to the car to drive back to Sandown bay. As we drove back to Sandown further cells were developing to our South amongst the long line, by the time we got back the lightning became even more frequent with many powerful CG'S including posi strikes to which again some was extremely close with more explosive thunder over and over making everywhere shake! Also we had another storm move through earlier on this Afternoon producing some nice thunder and some extremely heavy rain! Here are some images which am sharing from our IWMetservice forecasting page
  4. Good Afternoon Was gonna post last night but got really late. Anyway it was a very eventful one last night, we headed out just after 10pm due to the first load of cells that developed way to our South. First we went up to Brading downs and could see the lightning very clearly in the distance which was very frequent. As these moved closer further storms developed ahead of the current cells that was already firing, by this point we were looking in all directions with frequent lightning all around, and eventually these made it over head. The lightning was constant along with almost constant thunder too, much of the lightning was intra cloud, so a lot of the thunder was fairly quiet. Though there was some cg's at times leading to some very loud cracks of thunder, this was accompanied by some very heavy to torrential rain which became quite hazardous for a time, as well as some very strong wind gusts to our surprise! Once these started to move through we then decided to drive to Culver downs to watch the back of the storms as they moved towards the mainland. The lightning was going absolutely crazy, with all different types from big cg's including posi's, anvil crawlers as well as classic spidery looking lightning, at one point it was flashing every second for long periods. A very entertaining night which had all ended just before 1am as the storms moved to far away. I do have some footage which ill try to upload over the coarse of the day Got my fingers crossed for round 2 later this Evening and overnight! Its looking quite promising again along with a higher risk of hail!
  5. That's the problem isn't it when it starts developing right over head, luckily I was just far enough South and East when it exploded into life. Flash flooding has occurred in Sandown, Shanklin and Arreton. As for the lightning most of it became intra cloud or singular negative cg's barring the odd posi. So once it began moving away the rain obscured any visibility of the lightning. Sorry to hear it didn't quite do it for your part of the island
  6. Just had a cracking Thunderstorm develop right over my part of the island. First signs of development around 16:30 just to our East and North East, to which then another cell went up over the North of the island. These cells then combined with one another which exploded pretty much over my head, down the East coast. Started with a posi CG, which then got more and more frequent with thunder and lightning going off every 10-20 seconds (a good mix of IC and CG's) at one point. Along with this came torrential rain with a fair few places on the island now flooded, I actually got caught in this and am drenched! This has now moved through, though some more cells have just gone up over west Wight which looks like they are also producing.
  7. Good Morning Sunday 17th July: Another fine day for the most part, almost unbroken sunshine through the Morning barring some patchy mid level cloud of AcCas which looked pretty cool. The sky became rather milky for the Afternoon making the sun hazy for the most part, as well as a fresh breeze keeping my local area a little cooler than other places. However by the Evening some very high base cumulus went up turning into cumulonimbus mainly to our west. We went out to check them out and some of them produced a few strikes of Lightning to our surprise. These were super elevated, so most of any rain was barely reaching the ground apart from a few spots. Max Temperature: 23.3'c Min Temperature: 16.3'c Average: 20.5'c This Morning started off with the odd shower, though quickly cleared leaving a lovely sunny rest of the Morning along with some mid level cloud. Temperature: 24.2'c
  8. Good Morning Yesterday was another lovely sunny day with just some high thin cloud moving through at times. It was a little cooler in my part of the island due to a breeze coming in right off the sea. Max Temperature: 23.3'c Min Temperature: 14.8'c Average: 19.3'c This Morning is sunny once again with no cloud in sight right now. Current Temperature 22.0'c
  9. Hello Everyone Glad to say I can get involved with the models properly again after a long long absence, it really is looking a really exceptional event coming up and is gonna be very interesting tracking. No real change on the GFS 06z with 40'c+ still showing in some central and eastern parts Monday and becoming more widespread come Tuesday. Certainly now growing in confidence of this actually happening, potentially dangerous heat.
  10. Good Morning The rest of yesterday remained warm and mostly sunny, though there was some mid to high level cloud around late Afternoon and into the early Evening. Then this cleared to leave a clear and relatively comfortable night with an overnight low of 14.8'c Max Temperature 24.4'c Min Temperature (Yesterday): 14.1'c Average: 19.3'c This Morning has started much the same with plenty of sunshine and just a little high thin cloud emerging. Current Temperature: 20.4'c
  11. Some patchy cumulus now gone up, very pleasant out there with temperatures slowly climbing. Currently 23.8'c
  12. Good Morning Thursday 14th July: A lovely day once again with almost unbroken sunshine throughout and just a little patchy cloud. Last night was cooler than it has been making for a more comfortable sleep! Overnight low was 14.1'c Max Temperature: 27.2'c Min Temperature (yesterday): 15.4'c Average: 21.4'c This Morning is another pleasant sunny one with just a little patchy high thin cloud developing. Temperature 20.6'c
  13. Good Morning Wednesday 13th July: A very warm day once again, there was quite a lot of mid to high level cloud on and off throughout, which made the sun hazy for much of the day. Some mid level cumulus did also go up towards the end of the day which produce the odd very light shower in the odd localise spot on the island. Max Temperature: 28.1'c Min Temperature: 19.5'c Average: 23.0 This Morning is lovely and sunny, it is also a tad cooler too with a breeze making things feel pleasant. Overnight low was also a bit cool at 15.4'c. Current Temperature 22.3'c
  14. Good Morning all Tuesday 12th July (Yesterday): Another very very warm day though there was a lot more cloud around. The Morning saw mostly high cloud, making the sun hazy. During the Afternoon mid level cloud moved in and there was even the spot of rain briefly, though most of any showers around didn't even reach the ground. Despite the cloud it was very muggy. Max Temperature: 28.1'c Min Temperature: 19.5'c Average: 23.1'c This Morning is an exceptional warm start, there is a fair amount of mid to high level cloud around which again is making the sun hazy. It was also a warm and muggy night with a low of 19.5'c again Temperature is 27.4'c but we did hit 28.0 about 10 minutes ago.
  15. Thank you very much! It was an extremely dark and tough place to be in before it all started (Alcohol Addiction), being told by doctors and multiple other medical people not being aloud to stop on my own was too dangerous due to extremely high seizure risk etc was unbelievably scary! But am just so thankful and grateful of all the incredible help and new tools I've been taught and can re enjoy life again! Anyway report from yesterday: It was another beautiful and very warm day, the Morning was again cloudless, though high thin cloud did move in again by the Afternoon along with a sea breeze that picked up. By the Evening some more extensive cloud pushed in of Cirrus, Cirrostratus and Alto Cumulus. Max Temperature 25.3'c Min Temperature 15.1'c Average 20.6'c This Morning is another warm and fine start to the day though there is a lot more high cloud around making the sun rather hazy. Current Temperature is 22.1'c
  16. Good Morning Its been a long time away after having to sort myself out and get my life back, enduring a detox for 10 days back at the end of March into April and then completing just over 3 months of rehab at Kenward Trust in Yalding Kent near Maidstone. I can happily say iI'm back in the weather theme properly and can't wait to enjoy it all once again like I always used to! Anyway yesterday was a lovely and very warm day, the Morning was cloudless with light winds. High thin cloud developed by early Afternoon in wispy cirrus form, along with a pleasant sea breeze that picked up as well. This high cloud did clear by late Afternoon/early Evening though. Max Temperature was 26.1'c Min Temperature was 15.2'c Average 20.4'c Today is another beautiful Morning with cloudless skies and light winds. Current Temperature 22.0'c Overnight Low 15.1'c
  17. It was absolute madness, I got completely drenched as I thought the beach shelter I went under was safe from the rain but it definitely wasn't the best spot I chose to watch it The Lightning was crazy!
  18. Wow, that is all I can say. Literally been spoilt these last 5 days. That would of been the best storm out of the whole lot if it wasn't for the low cloud and fog, but once it reached Sandown and the bay it was truly stunning! Low cloud and fog cleared away, Lightning ever 1 to 3 seconds, with some beautiful CG'S once again. The one I saw about 15 minutes ago was one of the best Negative CG'S ive seen in years as well. Its still flashing and rumbling away right now! Can't believe i'm saying this but this has been the best period of storms i've ever ever seen down here and i've seen alot of storms, but the last 4-5 days have been special big time
  19. Seeing loads of lightning right now but there is so much fog and low cloud at the same time, trying to work out where the main of it is coming from, either to our west or our South South West
  20. Wow that was unexpected! Just had a small little potent beast went up just to my South about half hour ago. I was sat in my mates shed chatting away and we all froze as we suddenly heard a fairly loud rumble and then another 2 followed about 30 seconds each after but louder. I looked at the radar and noticed a really potent little cell very close to my side of the island. Went outside and noticed the base was really close and the anvil was right over head, within 10 seconds I saw this crazy CG with this long fork going nearly over my head as well to the top of the anvil with a loud boom of thunder. After that there was some other cool IC'S with good thunder every 30 seconds to a minute, before dying after rather quickly. Here's a screenshot grab that was captured of the CG from one of my mates webcams that we use from our local website
  21. Thank you mate, my friend said thank you for the kind comment on his photos (currently talking to him haha), bit gutting one of our main lightning strikes had glitched out his cam which he's trying to sort it out but I know there will be more stuff to share But yeah it really has been an incredible 48 hours, the last 2 years has been probably worse I've seen on the island for missing out pretty much everything which rarely happens, so it was definitely worth the wait
  22. Well that was definitely the last storm of the day I think, absolute insane day. Gets a 9 out of 10 for me! Anyway my friend has kindly aloud me share some images and also todays top 5 highest rainfall totals from Todays beasts. He will also be uploading a load of footage an time lapse over the coming hours which he has also kindly aloud to share when its ready
  23. Good Evening everyone Its been a long while since I posted on here, but thought it would be rude not report the amazing weekend we have had down here on the island. Ill start with Friday night, so a long night it was, started hearing distant channel boomers just after sunset an began seeing my first distant lightning as well. As we moved through the night further cells began to develop on the eastern flank of the storms that were directly to my South and South West, as these pushed further North the lightning was beginning to get more and more frequent with the sound of thunder becoming louder slowly but surely. The best part of the night was between 1am and 3 am and began to see absolute beauties, with all sorts of Negative cloud to ground lightning and intra cloud. As these moved right over head the lightning was every 1 to 3 seconds with some incredible anvil crawlers, to which I probably saw my longest with cloud to cloud fork I have ever seen. Despite the thunder not being overly loud due to most of the lightning staying high up in the storms, there was still the odd loud beast from any cg's that travelled down from the very top of storm. In general it was almost like constant booming and grumbling non stop . Overall it was very enjoyable after a long wait of almost 2 years since we had anything that's classed as decent! Now for Today which I actually thought was even better, had a few showers around early Afternoon which produced the odd rumble. Anyway got to around 3pm and some very intense downpours began to develop just to our North and North East, these didn't take to long to start producing lightning, which then quickly became crazy. Saw a few insane positive CG'S with extremely loud thunder, some of the loudest I've heard in years, the thunder and lightning in general became very frequent, to which there was a period for about 3-4 minutes of constant thunder without a break. Not only this, just to the east of where I live had some of heaviest rain the island has probably seen, it was absolute chaos with bad floods in many places, as well as some hail thrown in. These finally cleared away by about 5:30 so they went on for a while! Definitely one of the best day time storms I've experienced! Ps I don't believe it, more cells are going up and I've just heard more thunder!
  24. Wheeyyy!! Finally can report a covering on the ground in my part of my the Island since 2018! Southern parts of the Island are getting the best of as I was thinking Tonight. I'm just happy to see a covering at this point, in fact I was that confident of seeing something I planned an all nighter
  25. Its been snowing here on and off for the last hour or so now, its more snizzly than anything though we are getting the odd heavier burst which has coated some surfaces. Its very fine dry snow so its blowing around very easy and swirling around the roads, including the carpark outside my house.
