  1. Three daffodils have managed to break through in my garden - silly things, they don't have much time left!

I can't remember another time when the daffodils were so late! I like it! :-)

Well I may well have to quit gardening in the way that I do, if this cold spell delivers what it is supposed to.. I love gardening but it's not feasible given the way winters may be heading.. so forgive me if I'm not happy about this cold spell.

  2. The temperature here last went above 10°C 44 days ago..

The last 10c here was on the 2nd of March and what a lovely day it was. Eugene, i thing Botty is just looking forward to Summer. Nothing wrong with that, especially after the winter of eternal gloom.

I do want seasonal variation but be nice if the warm season wasn't so short meaning a few bad weeks and that's your lot for another year!

I think the hardcore cold lovers would just like cold and ice 12 months of the year TBF. I want very warm, sunny/thundery for summer, atlantic gales and depressions from oct through dec. a brief cold snowy spell in jan, then a fresh showery early spring, oh that was the ninties!

  3. Winter doesn't want to end in Scandinavia! http://www.foreca.com/Sweden/Stockholm?tenday

  4. Good storm in Leeds in May 2009 - I remember it well as it occurred at night (a rare occurrence nowadays) - well, convection started in the afternoon, the storm then appeared by late evening and continued into the night. http://youtu.be/b7rn2hLh5fU
  5. August 1992.

It was a very cool summer month at Leeds Weather Centre with an average maximum of 19.2C, but it was not exceptionally wet, with 71.9 mm of rain.
  6. Wow, we have clear skies.

It snowed for half an hour but didn't settle. Trough too far north.

I agree, they seem more rubbish than normal this winter. I'm kind of in the SE now and agree about this one, when will I see decent sun next?? Never known so many 5 day forecasts without any sun on them.

Also what ever has happened to clear nights with harsh frosts in cold spells?

  8. Go away easterly winds, you're not wanted here.

      I remember Atlantic 252

bottesford I would agree, if its dry, dont get many dry SW'ly's here in the west

  9. I see way more snow than thunderstorms, definitely, thunderstorms were my favourite type of weather a few years ago though because they occurred so frequently it seems, but now I hardly see any.
  10. Not a single overhead storm here last year, truly appalling, never had a year so bad for storms in my entire life. Saw some good storms in the vicinity though, one particular storm affected most of Leeds but this little area on the eastern outskirts totally missed out! Literally a few miles west and there was an absolute deluge. I like to think of it as nature's way of balancing things out - I do quite well for snow, so I can't do well for thunderstorms, too (straws are tightly clutched!). Ah, well, it can only get better, I suppose. Doesn't help that I've already missed out on a few thundery downpours though.
  11. From hereon in, sunsets in Leeds will be later than London, with 4 minutes of extra day length gained.

  12. I have to concur with the posts below - this current weather is great, sunny and mild by day, cold and frosty by night. The upcoming spell of weather looks unrelentingly dull and I am not interested in the slightest.

It will be sadly missed. ;( But at least it's now at peace in model heaven.

  14. July/August 1990

The temperature reached 34.4C at Leeds Weather Centre on the 2nd, 33.2C on the 3rd, with an overnight low of 19.4C. I'd like to see a repeat, purely from a meteorological interest point of view, as opposed to actually enjoying such temperatures.
