  1. It was bound to happen as soon as they started saying driest winter and probable summer drought/hosepipe ban at the end of Feb. People think weather patterns are random but we have too often seen above average rainfall after the media starts talking about drought for it to simply be a coincidence.
  2. 'Tornado' spotted forming over Gillingham WWW.KENTONLINE.CO.UK A tornado enthusiast says the county came close to being hit by a twister this afternoon. The road was passable with difficulty! UK heatwave: Multiple homes engulfed in flames as wildfires spread amid major incident - Mirror Online WWW.MIRROR.CO.UK A huge blaze in Wennington, east London, as well further fires in Dartford, Croydon, Leeds and Norfolk, have spread as the UK records its hottest day ever These hailstones the 'size of blueberries' fell in Dartford during the freak bank holiday storms - Kent Live WWW.KENTLIVE.NEWS Pictures show the colossal balls of ice which fell from the sky on Saturday (May 26) Storms in Kent at end of hottest day WWW.KENTONLINE.CO.UK Stunning images capture the moment the heatwave ended as storms hit Kent.
  3. MY DDs football team has managed 4 football matches since the start of December due to weather interruptions and no doubt this Saturday will be a water-logged pitch again and then it is a 2 week break for Easter and then we are in to the final few matches of the season. Last year she was golden boot for her age group, this year she is likely to miss out just because she is half a dozen matches down.
  4. Do you remember before 1.2 degrees when we used to say you were more likely to see snow at Easter than xmas....
  5. IT may not be the weather of choice but we will all appreciate the rainfall later in the year
  6. BBC Website Weather hourly is showing temps fairly stable at 7C till 5pm then dropping 5 degrees to 2 degrees at 6pm - never seen anything similar before.
  7. So coming up we have: Notably cold March night tonight Cold drizzle tomorrow evening Warm drizzle Sunday Windstorm Monday Another sleet fest Tuesday night Followed by cold Easterly nastiness for the foreseeable I guess it is interesting weather but would prefer spring warmth tbh
  8. BBC News website, top story is currently about some over entitled, overpaid presenter who thinks he is above the rules. Snow and Ice live is in right hand 'other stories not important enough to warrant a photo' column. Yesterday snow and ice was the main top left most space on the pave story.
  9. I love the way ess than an inch in and around London made it the top story on the BBC News website whereas much more today but elsewhere in the country and it is a footnote....
  10. So tomorrow afternoon for another sleet/slush fest and then possibly more on Tuesday night - oh and some noticeable winds tomorrow and Sunday into Monday. I guess it is not dull even though it feels that way.
  11. Would have preferred to watch the snow fall but had to watch the match and couldn't see a lot as so much went onto my glasses...
  12. Really enjoyed being linesman on the school football match 4.30 ko on the astro. By the end we would have had to stop anyway as you couldn't see the lines. DDs team won 7-0, I can only imagine how unpleasant it must have been for the girls on the other team. Ptobabl;y got about the same 2cm we had this morning.
  13. The very definition of marginal Dunstable Hang-gliding Club Webcam WWW.CAMSCAPE.COM Dunstable Hang-gliding Club Webcam
  14. WE seem to have had snow/sleet symbols on the BBC long range forecast for the last week or more - but they never get closer than T120 before being pushed back or disappearing....
  15. You need to move to somewhere with a snowier climate - perhaps Southern California? Los Angeles meteorologists marvel at blizzard warnings WWW.BBC.CO.UK It's usually sunny and warm in Southern California, but area forecasters are experiencing a first
  16. 7.07 for us according to BBC website (aside: all snowflake symbols have now disappeared for Wed night into Thursday, a few now for Sat AM but no sign of any lying snow): AL4 - BBC Weather WWW.BBC.CO.UK 14-day weather forecast for AL4.
  17. Originally the cold spell was supposed to have ended yesterday, car said -4 at 9.30 this evening so I don't think so - now saying it may get a bit warmer by Wednesday. As someone who pays the heating bill I prefer the mild much if it is not going to snow. The odd frost and sunshine day sure but this is our second longish cold spell of the winter and it is costing a fortune
  18. Have to disagree - channel low into established cold air, snow as you say - channel low into mild air with warm ground is more like a standard Atlantic depression. Compare last night with the December event.
  19. Latest BBC forecast suggests this thread will get a lot busier over the next week, North Home counties are on a promise currently although unlike December no deep cold before any snow arrives.
