  1. its snowing here now only light dont know wether it wil manage to settle tho well its 2.6 degs here now and still managing it so it will deffo be ok over you with ectra elevation and colder temps best of luck
  2. yeah was gunna mention thaT well spotted its seems to be intensifying actually currently temp is 2.5 degs at 220mtrs i wreckon there could be some heavty bits of snow in this. Went up to Woddhead 2 min drive hbehind house and there is a a covering of between 2-4 inches above 400mtrs. Its like another world and yet just up the road amazing that was from the Friday and saturday snow that we had but didnt quite manage to settle glad you mentioed that i was just gunna post about it and thouigh i would check to see if anyone had noticed??? its about 30mile north of her at mo actually about 15/20 miles north doesnt look quite as intense but still a possibility all thesame just hope it wont have compltetly died when it gets to you heres hoping Might get some then at 220mtrs currently 2.5 degs what your temp?????
  3. Well like i say i left wombwell at 80mtrs amsl and returned to penistone on train at station being 210mtrs and it was belting it down with fat heavy wet flakes of snow and had been all morning and did all afternoon but didnt start to settle until abotu 3pm by which time it fizzled out and stopped. must admit if it is gunna just fart about and not do the real deal i cant be arsed iw ould rather it just warm up and have a decen t spring and summer and i can get in garden and feel like loosing some blubber i have gathered over this long winter. I know what i say it wont makes a sod of difference but im sayin it all the same. Been rather lonely on her tonight Nite Ah fek dint wanna here hear that!
  4. Well i was hoping for some snow from this but got no chance by the looks of it if you are saying 430mtrs im only half that in South Yorkshire - in saying that though this past few days snow although has not settled greatly below 300 mtrs was never forecast. Infact only a few days ago it was talk of spring and mild Swlys's from some on here so thats another shift that was not initially iodentified by everyone. When is the precipitation from the storm system in the SE likely to hit us???? Looking on the rain today site it looks like the precipitaion you are currently experiencing is around 20miles to the south of us. Although i expect it to fall as wet snow i dont see any change on ground surface temps and therefoe cant see it sticking at the moment. Is there a lot of warm air sectors contained within the storm moving up? i expect there will be considering where it has come from but if it does not move too far north we could get some. I dont think i can cope with these near misses anymore and as time progresses it is getting less and less likely that snow certainly significant snow will stick even in these parts for any length of time unless we get some very cold uppers and little sun which i cant see but considering our recent winter would not rule out. Winter very often has a sting in its tail and no reason why this march couldnt poss deliver to some favoured locations whoever they may be. I never thought a week ago this front would stall in scotland and produce a metre of snow, more to some locations, Unfortunately we only got about 4 inches from it but better than nothing. We got some more Friday when it made its way back down then it snowed most of today until about 3pm very wet but very big flakes and heavy at times. I can see it has left a slushy white cover above about 260mtrs around me. Still could be a few suprises ahead with a real mix of weather coming up its all about elevation levation!!!!
  5. is it poss this could start to have an impact northern hemiasphere hemisphere wise on low solar activiy and increased reflection to aid to cooling or is this not likely to have high impact global impact????????
  6. Well in Pensitoenits has been wet snow since about 9am this morning Left from Wombwell on Train by the time i got to Penistone its was snowing some heavier bursts temp holding steady at 2.4 degs. In heavier bursts it is settleing on the grass. Not sure where this has come form but does look good for potential later on ion weekend and next week. Just seems so wet and soggy compared to our dry blowy powdery snow of before. I unsderstand why just dont like it as much but they were good times. I cant get over the amount of snow they have had in Scotland this year. They have had over a metre of level snow thats before it blew it around 20ft deep they have had to dig the skiscentres out before they can get in them. Itys immense. Its going to be an excelent spring ski season there. No doubt some very big patches will sticjk in North facing crevases on Higher mountains probably right through until the next Autumn winter blast. Stunning stuff. Same here in Penny been snowing on and off all morning 220mtrs stayed at Wombwell last night totally dry nearly 4 degs by the time i cgot to penistone it was very heavy and thick wet flakes. it did it yesterday too but went to Sheffield and it was just raining. Cant beleiver how marginal it is. Bit too wet to walk in as i discovered walking back from the train station.
  7. I agree think there are goign to be some suprise and quite heavy falls in some places around yorkshire. I am hoping that Penistone may get some but will have to wait ands ee. I think the cold dense air mass to the north may well dig quicker under the warm and amke for some very intense and interesitng weather friday night into saturday. I have been on the Scotland weather and it looks amazing. A little like we got here last winter with a stalling front dumping in a localised area. Even after all of the snow we have had i would love to get some more. makes spring and suimmer all the more enjoyeable IMO when it eventually arrives up here. I love sunny weather but just cant stand the intense heat. 21 degs and a coll breeze is spot on! and will feel tropical after this lot. sorry about all mistakes cant be bothered to sort too tired.
  8. well i thought temps had gone up but they have actually fallen to .06 deg. could be in for a battering again shortlived i know but i will enjoy it all the same. infact sod it im gunna get dressed and go for a snow walk to the station and watch the last train go in and out! now thats WKD!
  9. We have had a good run though and shouldnt be greedy. We have been spoilt by all this snow. suppose just have to look back on photographs i have taken and just be happy i lived to experience this again. I did think about ten years ago that i would just have to live with my child memories from 80's and historic photos but i have manage to live through another blast so that great. OOH that looks bldy Gawjuz lets hope ts snow still im gunna go and check mi weather staion and see if temp still holding below 1deg
  10. Similar her m8y but you in slightly colder air and higher elevation. The hills only 5 minutes walk from here still had about 5/10cm piled up agaisnt the dry stone walls from 2/3ft drifts in Dec/Jan snow arounf 1000ft AMSL the hill that i am half way up goes up to 370mtrs amsl and that had patches dotted around in all of the shaded areas. recenlty though these have diminished as the sun has become gradually higher and more powerful. But yes like you said pretty amazing stuff. Cant see then 2/3inch we got now still being here in the morning though.
  11. Its been snowing here since about 5pm some really heavy falls settled really from the start. Must admit the more i read around this it is a downgrade inrespect of the warmer air managing to push through which is a shame but it had to happen at some point. Did think that the milder air would have made it throug y now but we holding steady at 0.7 degs here infact dropeed .2 of a degree so far. It wouldnt take much to suddenly change this but i think it is pretty much set now that the front will psuh into southern scotland and N.Irelnad and stall then a stron easterly kcicking in in this area and then the snow petering owt. Could be some substantial falls in N.Ireland. Still had some hope that colder air would sink south again Thurs fri and turn the rain back to snow but that is now looking less and less likely!!! Shame. Would rather have snow though than ldz of cold rain. Never thought i would say this but if it cant keep cold then i would ratheR it warm up and i can start gardening. Sorry to be negative just a bit fed up. I know we can get some stonking weathe rin March snow wise. I have had my hissy fit i be ok now!
  12. Dont blame you it will be very difficult over 300mtrs amsl very rural and the roads will not have been grtitted. If you lost control up there it would be grim! Either leave early or plan to have a lst pint at the strines and get stcuck there and have a lock in ha ha woud be cool! just make sure the chef gets stuck their too!
  13. so two people watced the same forecast and have differing conclusions dont know what to think gfs seems over progressive and pushes quite mild air in, im not convinced i think it will snow poss trn back to sleet or rain then back to sleet and snow fri / sat its all very messy complex and certainly down 2 nowcasting What did you see that Storm Force isnt ???? im confused again
  14. well done lads ou have even managed to get a tree growing out of its head too nice work didnt realise it was localy famous too. How the hell did you pull that one off! that face is great reminds me of a creature out of trap door!
