  1. With cold weather here now, and getting well established over the British Isles in the next few days, lets look back in history. November 1983 was a very frosty month with the temperature here in London max 3 to 5 during the day and -5- or -6 during the night on many occasions, it was a very anticyclonic dominated month. There was a place in the central of England where the temperature fell overnight to -13. We don``t see that temperature in the whole of winter in most years, at that time I remember BBC weatherman Stan Francais stating, that was the lowest level the temperature can fall at this time of the year without any snow cover. November was much colder 40 years ago. Location Battersea, London.
  2. Maybe is was, Ecm 850s was showing the warmest air to be towards the West and North West, and maybe some places in the North West have had unbroken sunshine, here in the South East we have had cloud at times. Battersea, London.
  3. Of course if that weather event happened today it will blamed on climate change, as with every extreme weather event nowadays! As always. Gender Male Location Battersea London.
  4. I wonder if there was a SSW, for this incredible cold spell of weather exactly 67 years ago, many parts of Central and Southern Europe having a record cold spell of weather. Gender Male. Location Battersea London.
  5. That charts is a week away, I have saved it, so lets see how accurate it turns out to be, Maybe, the sick bucket should be on hold for now, as they say a week is a long time in meteorology. Location: Battersea,London.
  6. What a nice coincidence, just has we are experiencing a very cold spell of weather with easterly winds, 30 years ago at exactly the same time, we had a very cold and snowy spell of weather. at that time I remember working at Westminster in Central London, as Security Guard, with 8 inches of snow outside, that was very impressive for London. The maximum temperature on the 6th and 7th was between -4 and -6, it stayed cold for over a week, I remember sledging at Richmond park Southwest London in the sunshine. the following Sunday. So what was the reason for such cold weather at that time? Well, looking back at January 1991,that month was dominated by anticyclonic conditions, in fact, there was mini easterly spell around mid mouth, so maybe this provided the base for anticyclonic build in Scandinavia later.and for low pressure systems under the anticyclone to drive very cold air west from Siberia, in fact, a very cold lobe of air mass broke off from a bigger lobe, and moved west towards Western Europe. England had direct hit with uppers of -16 arriving on the 7th, in the South East.I have a photo of myself in a foot of snow at Caterham Surrey, this just shows at the time, the heavy snow fall. Gender Male Location Battersea London.
  7. I will go for 3.6 CET and 75mm rainfall. Gender Male Location Battersea London,
  8. On the ECM, after spending 4 or 5 days stuck over the UK, the low pressure suddenly rockets 1500 miles in 24 hours to the Ukraine, definitely one for the bin, I think. Location Battersea London, Gender Male.
  9. Quite a big change with the Ecm with in 24 hours, there are more likely to be more changes at short notice with this set up. so it is always best to think the output will change quickly from day to day, and not take the output beyond 144 too seriously, as is shown below. Location Battersea London Gender Male.

  11. The temperature is now 2Cc at 1520, cooler than the 5c that was forecast for central London, for today. Gender Male Location Battersea London
  12. The good thing is that, the models are showing Europe cooling down gradually, so if the wind turn easterly ,we have the advantage of cooler temperatures and lower dew points, to give us a greater chance of snow fall in future, unlike last week, when the temperatures were well above normal over much of Europe, from a southerly feed of winds. Gender Male Location Battersea, London.
  13. Okay, my estimate for December 2020 CET IS 4.7 Celsius as above, a good value I think. Gender Male Location Battersea, London.
  14. Well, it looks like Heathrow will be top spot again with the highest temperature in the UK, so far at 33.3, after yesterdays 32.6, as I have said before, it is very common for Heathrow to record the highest temperature in the UK, being far from the sea and with an eastsoutheast wind the short sea crossing from the channel, also the city of London to the east, provides an extra source of heat, there is also a light breeze, this means other places like Bournemouth and Southhampton picking up the sea breezes will be prevented from registering the the highest temperature in this setup. Gender Male, Location Batersea, London.
  15. Amazing! We struggled to see that last December, January and February, Gender Male Location Battersea London..
  16. The temperature of -0.5 this morning on the 1st of April is probably the lowest here at Battersea, near central London all winter, hard to remember a lower minimum , this shows how poor the whole winter was as far as cold weather was concerned. Minimum temperatures this morning, at Farnborough and Benson of -5 or -6, are probably just as low the minimum( or not very far of) temperatures recorded all winter.. Gender Male Location Battersea London.
  17. You obviously have never heard of the weather events, end of February 2018! Gender Male Location Battersea London
  18. Nice sunny day here wall to wall sunshine in London, not a cloud in the sky all day long, so what happened to all that cloud that was forecast just today, we just had a beautiful sunset here ,so no sign yet of any cloud. The temperature is falling after peaking at 6, now at 17.16 is 4c. Gender Male Location Battersea London.
  19. Really! Have you ever done physical sports in South East Asia? OH, how lucky we are to have such nice a climate in the UK. Location Battersea. London Gender Male.
  20. The ECM has been very persistent with the northerly in F1 that's 4 or 5 runs now, of course still a long way away this does not mean it will be right, but those who are warm/hot weather fans should be hoping the evolution is dropped in the next 2 or 3 days. The evolution of low pressure to the west moving over the UK and transferring east to allow, cold north winds south. Location Battersea, London. Gender Male.
  21. I am sure some parts of the world are baking, look at North West Russia, Moscow up to 35, the other day and still experiencing a heatwave at 30 today,, but so far this June it is just not happening here, pay back time for the record warmth in February, the fine warm weather during March and April, and the mild winter with the lack of blocking to the North and East ,now we have blocking galore at these places, As the saying goes, " Nothing good last for ever". Location Battersea London. Gender Male.
  22. The temperature this morning at 8am was 12 , it is now 10, very wet today cold, I felt cold on the bike, just like a normal winters day. Certainly June 2019 is no flaming June , more like cooling June. Location Battersea London. Gender Male.
  23. Well, not the start to June some people on here were imagining a few weeks ago, words like flaming June were commonly used on this forum, is more like cooling June. looking at the models for the next few days. The main problem northern blocking anticyclones that some people were dreaming of seeing in the Winter months, (dreams come true lol) have now arrived with vengeance since May. In fact, there has been a lack of anticyclonic development to our North for a while,. unfortunately experience shows that once this pattern persist it is very hard to change, lets hope we get out of this pattern by mid July, otherwise baring a few warm /hot days, the summer of 2019 might only be a success for potato growers, or umbrella sellers. Gender Male. Location Battersea London.
  24. 4.2C 50MM precipitation. Mild start but especially after mid month a greater chance of colder weather coming from the East. Gender Male Location Battersea, London.
  25. Yesterday the tendency for the models was to show a more north to northeasterly flow, how this has changed in the models to a more east and south east flow come Thursday and Friday, with high pressure to the north much stronger, than of yesterday, I think the Ecm would be different from yesterdays 12z, with a tendency to build stronger highs to the North, Gender Male Location, Battersea London.
