  1. Don't think this paper has been linked in here. Thought it might be of interest. FEELING THE PULSE OF THE STRATOSPHERE An Emerging Opportunity for Predicting Continental- Scale Cold-Air Outbreaks 1 Month in Advance http://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/pdf/10.1175/BAMS-D-14-00287.1
  2. Yes, a very average summer in my opinion. The lack of any prolonged dry, warm spells has been the most notable feature for me down in the south west. Just a brief few days here and there, haven't had to water the garden at all. And yet, despite the seemingly endless stream of low pressures sitting off the northwest of the UK, my holiday in the west of Scotland saw just one afternoon of rain in 15 days. Otherwise warm and sunny while back home the rains fell. And the kids even got to throw snowballs on the mountains to make up for last winter's letdown. The British weather we all love and know. BnB
