Morning all. Well I thought that today was going to be our region’s best chance for widespread storms, but I’ve just been reading ‘Convective Weather’s’ forecast for today and there’s just a SLIGHT risk over the central and eastern areas of our region which surprised me, specifically mentioning that the western coastal areas are less likely to see storms. This is a contradiction to the Metoffice’s current weather warning which specifically mentions N Wales and NW England as the areas with the highest likelihood of storms today. Hmm.

Thunderstorm warning out for tomorrow and Wednesday. No doubt there will be a big gap over me on the radar like a few days ago whilst other areas of Greater Manchester get hammered.
Looking at the warnings it seems that tomorrow could be the the best chance of widespread storms we’ve had this year. Fingers crossed!

Seen some decent storms in Orlando but it’s the intensity of the rain that I noticed more, especially when trying to drive in it.
The best one I saw was at the Space Centre though, over a hour of near constant lightening, thunder and rain bouncing to head height and then flooded roads all the way back to Orlando.
I’ve been to Florida a good 10 times and the storms out there always amaze me. I love the ones that rumble into the evening with no rain but constant distant lightning and thunder.
being there during Hurricane Irma was another story…

A stunning, clear evening, albeit a bit windy around 5pm. Calm right now, and feeling a bit humid to me. I’ll have to get some snapshots of trip to the Llyn Peninsula when I go Saturday for a week. Sunday looks like it could be some quite intense bursts of rain and possibly thunderstorms across quite a bit of the UK. Saturday looks good at least!

So after a sunny and warm day it’s turned cooler, fresher and breezier as the front moves in. I never expected anything up here, even in the early days of this breakdown. Now I hold on to as little rain as possible from Saturday, fingers crossed, but it does look like Sunday is looking pretty wet.

I'm going to make the most of tomorrow as after that it looks cool for a good week or so. It has been a very nice June though so can't really complain too much. Can't expect it to be dry and sunny throughout the summer this isn't the Algarve.
I would be happy with average temperatures with showers. Just hope it’s not the drenchings and cold we were subjected to in May!

In a selfish way I would like it to be quite pleasant from Saturday for a week while I have a holiday in the Llyn Peninsula, though it does look like it could turn changeable from Sunday. Fingers crossed it’s a blip or it’s short lived!

It’s been much cooler today compared to yesterday, but it’ll be back to bring quite warm and humid tomorrow and Wednesday by the looks of things. Forecast heavy showers overnight on Wednesday but I just feel the NW England may be a bit too far north and west for anything spectacular.

I’m here! Crewe had messaged me, I’ve not been on here in years, even had to remind myself of my password!

Clouds already bubbling up here readily and shown well on sat24 as a developing line down the Southern Pennines, into the Midlands. Is this the convergence zone mentioned above?
Probably. I can see cumulus clouds building to my east, probably over the Pennines.
Apparently the convergence is strongest up here around 6-9pm.
-
Today could see quite a strong convergence zone lining up on the Pennines, with them drifting slowly westwards, this won’t happen until late afternoon/evening if it does so.

2017 into 2018 has been so close yet so far for here. I hope the storm season will be better, and this is a one off ?

Doesn't look promising for Northern England now which is typical : P
Nope! Convective weather removed us from the moderate risk. Surprised metoffice haven’t cancelled the warning yet and applied one to the south coast.

Sferics across the country are dying down a bit.

Removed from the moderate now - http://www.convectiveweather.co.uk/forecast.php?date=2018-04-21
Meh
cant believe the SE looks to get it again, when it wasn’t really forecast at all!

Metoffice have given me a 60% storm chance 10-11pm out of the blue.
-
I’m not jealous.

Really needs to get going up here. Met office have been blind to the storms in the south. If they get to the midlands, then Estofex had the best forecast!
-
Still heavy showers going up west of the region too so I think we still have a good few hours.

He was the most pessimistic yesterday too - haha. At least someone is getting something anyway.

Convective weather just replied to my tweet asking about the lack of activity and they said that everything is a lot further west than what model guidance would have suggested,They also mentioned putting Cumbria into a moderate for tonight as well.
I guess if it’s still west, we still have a chance further east still, even if it’s later.
ots still 19.6c here, and the humidity has gone from 50% to 61%

Beast of a storm formed right over my head this evening with a few splashes of rain, followed by plenty of distant thunder. Looks like it’s given quite a show over Leigh and now heading towards N and W Manchester.
