  1. Beast of a storm formed right over my head this evening with a few splashes of rain, followed by plenty of distant thunder. Looks like it’s given quite a show over Leigh and now heading towards N and W Manchester.
  2. Morning all. Well I thought that today was going to be our region’s best chance for widespread storms, but I’ve just been reading ‘Convective Weather’s’ forecast for today and there’s just a SLIGHT risk over the central and eastern areas of our region which surprised me, specifically mentioning that the western coastal areas are less likely to see storms. This is a contradiction to the Metoffice’s current weather warning which specifically mentions N Wales and NW England as the areas with the highest likelihood of storms today. Hmm.
  3. Looking at the warnings it seems that tomorrow could be the the best chance of widespread storms we’ve had this year. Fingers crossed!
  4. I’ve been to Florida a good 10 times and the storms out there always amaze me. I love the ones that rumble into the evening with no rain but constant distant lightning and thunder. being there during Hurricane Irma was another story…
  5. A stunning, clear evening, albeit a bit windy around 5pm. Calm right now, and feeling a bit humid to me. I’ll have to get some snapshots of trip to the Llyn Peninsula when I go Saturday for a week. Sunday looks like it could be some quite intense bursts of rain and possibly thunderstorms across quite a bit of the UK. Saturday looks good at least!
  6. So after a sunny and warm day it’s turned cooler, fresher and breezier as the front moves in. I never expected anything up here, even in the early days of this breakdown. Now I hold on to as little rain as possible from Saturday, fingers crossed, but it does look like Sunday is looking pretty wet.
  7. I would be happy with average temperatures with showers. Just hope it’s not the drenchings and cold we were subjected to in May!
  8. In a selfish way I would like it to be quite pleasant from Saturday for a week while I have a holiday in the Llyn Peninsula, though it does look like it could turn changeable from Sunday. Fingers crossed it’s a blip or it’s short lived!
  9. It’s been much cooler today compared to yesterday, but it’ll be back to bring quite warm and humid tomorrow and Wednesday by the looks of things. Forecast heavy showers overnight on Wednesday but I just feel the NW England may be a bit too far north and west for anything spectacular.
  10. I’m here! Crewe had messaged me, I’ve not been on here in years, even had to remind myself of my password!
  11. Probably. I can see cumulus clouds building to my east, probably over the Pennines. Apparently the convergence is strongest up here around 6-9pm.
  12. Today could see quite a strong convergence zone lining up on the Pennines, with them drifting slowly westwards, this won’t happen until late afternoon/evening if it does so.
  13. You’ve got more intense showers near you again according to the radar?
  14. 2017 into 2018 has been so close yet so far for here. I hope the storm season will be better, and this is a one off ?
