  1. Would make for interesting photos though don't you think
  2. Looking at the yellow snow warning for the southwest on my weather app it states affected areas as Cornwall, Devon & Somerset for occasional snow showers, that's a larger area then what that map in your link shows, time will tell and no doubt the warning will chop and change or even disappear all together lol.
  3. So because the ukmo is poor some people are dismissing what the gfs shows! Some have short memories on here that's all I can say as I can remember past winter's where both the ukmo & ecm were showing cold outlooks and the gfs was having none of it and low and behold the gfs was right. So does that mean the gfs is right this time, nobody knows but the weather, we'll find out soon enough but I do find it amusing that a few posters think the gfs is wrong because the ukmo isn't on board with the cold looking charts.
  4. So some posters are saying the gfs 12z will likely be a downgrade, well so what, don't those posters realise that the 06z was so spectacular that a downgrade (depending on how much of a downgrade of course) would still likely to be a great run if cold and snow is what your after lol
  5. Don't think I've ever posted in the model discussion thread in all my years of being a member of this forum but this post bugs me, especially the bit I've highlighted, as far as I'm concerned I'm glad some members post on here with a glass half full type of attitude, especially during these trying times when the weather models are poor for cold. I take it Crewe that you'd rather everyone posted with a depressing glass half empty attitude all the time, personally that would make this thread a miserable place to visit!
  6. Been foggy all day here and feeling very chilly.
  7. Temps on the increase now, still foggy but frost has lifted.
  8. Freezing fog thickening up at the moment, if this doesn't clear all day I wonder if we can scrape an ice day, would be impressive for the first day of winter.
  9. Gorgeous winter's morning out there, hard frost and quite foggy too, my second best favourite winter weather!
  10. Just had an amazing hail storm with thunder and lightning , it's white outside and I'm glad I got up to look out the window as I saw fork lightning right outside the bloody window, i mean there was no gap between the flash and the booming thunder absolutely awesome!
  11. Single lightning flash seen and one very loud rumble of thunder heard about 5 minutes ago
  12. Really didn't want cloudy weather today as it's the super moon tonight.
  13. The south west can be the place to be in fact with a proper battle between low pressure coming in from the sw and a Scandinavian high pressure, trouble is most of the time the block is too far north east or too weak to halt the lp from moving too far north Dec 81 was awesome here, over a foot of level snow at sea level due to channel lows, high pressure was strong enough and just in the right place for the south west and other places in the south to receive heavy snowfalls. I'm still waiting for the 'perfect setup' for the south west to happen again since Dec 81, who knows, might be this winter.
  14. What a great spell of weather we've been having the past few days, I can remember over the years some members on here saying how their not interested in warm/hot weather even in August let alone mid september, partly due to getting darker earlier etc. Yeah it might get dark earlier but the temps sure ain't been dropping much, was sat out in the garden till near midnight last night, crazy considering we're into autumn.
  15. Checking out the visible cloud map on the weather app on my phone has showed how lucky we've been here in North Somerset and surrounding areas today with hardly any cloud in the sky all day, pretty much non stop blue skies just a shame about the strength of the wind, would have been an even more of a nice day without that.
  16. Feel free to grab this current rubbish weather if you like but I'd much rather grab days and days of clear blue skies, light winds and very warm /hot temperatures, after all it is summer! Yesterday was absolutely atrocious here and tomorrow is looking rubbish according to the models. One can only hope the models start improving soon.
  17. Thunder and lightning incoming, seen plenty of fork lightning already!
  18. What you call dull I call brilliant, I hope this settled spell lasts for a long time, sunny again out there right now like it was yesterday too which makes it feel very pleasant but sunny or cloudy I'm happy it's dry and settled meaning I can get out to do what I want to do which isn't really an option when it's wet and windy!
  19. Hopefully that doesn't mean just more cold rain for our keck of the woods for the rest of Feb when any weather fronts are around!
  20. Looking rubbish for the West next week I see (going by current models), any snow much further East. Why am I not surprised!
  21. What a gorgeous day it's been weather wise, clear blue skies & so nice to have that crunchy feeling underfoot when walking on the grass, frost has stayed on the ground in the back garden all day, much better than the quagmire the garden was like through all of December! What a shame the mild crud with wind & rain is on it's way back
  22. Damn cold out there this morning, very thick layer of ice all over the car and temp still reading - 5.5c, not bad considering I'm only a few miles inland from the coast.
  23. I've been so tempted to reply in the mod thread about that, so many people seemed to have completely missed the wink in his post and they all thought he meant it was a bad chart!
  24. Apparently according to a post on the mod thread about some ecm charts that aren't freely available, they show most of the uk with lying snow by the end of this coming week, have a guess what area is shown to have none.
