  1. Was just coming in to say that. GFS 12z showed it and it peaked my interest a bit, but ECM showing height rises to our north at the tail end of it's run has drawn me in again!! Something to keep the mind busy with a hobby and away from the doom of modern life!
  2. Gorgeous day out there today! 12 degrees and blue skies. Kids out playing in the garden for the first time in an age! I love snow and cold, but that is priceless!
  3. Just back from Dublin mountains. Raining here when we left and returned but blizzard conditions up there. So cold the lads wanted to go home after 30 minutes! We got the snowman built and a good bit of sledging done, so 3 tired but happy kids (and parents!) and I got my snow fix! Amazing pics from up north lads, well jel!!!
  4. Right, tomorrow is planned. We're rising early, and if the snow (as expected) hasn't given us enough to play in (my lads are snow starved) then we're heading to higher climates and we're building a snowman. One of my kids has special needs and we're exempt from travel restrictions, so we're going to build a snowman!!! Best of luck to the rest of you about to get buried, enjoy it and I want pictures!!!
  5. ECM goes a different route! A propping up a Scandi hi of sorts. Doesn’t orientate too favourably for these islands, but it’s again, something to watch! Day 8-10
  6. 12z GFS still keen to give most of the lower 26 counties a pasting tomorrow. North and east getting another go at it on Saturday and the lunch time news on RTE showed similar. As usual, Mother Nature will decide!
  7. Yep, all the precipitation dies away when it hits midlands. Dublin snow shield in full effect again! All according to the latest HIRLAM
  8. Not really. It’s snowed grauple every day since Sunday, but so light it’s negligible, same for tonight.
  9. It's diagnosed by little squiggles in the line on the long wave patterns or shortwaves popping into the long wave pattern.
  10. Yesterday 1 mile south of me had a decent 3cm covering, and north of me by about 2 miles had a decent 5 cm covering. I had some snow on the car roof this morning, that's all. I really am cursed! AT least it's cold enough to use my logs!
  11. It's now snowing. Light enough, but a dusting is now accruing. Radar looks like it could sustain for a while. Will report back in a half hour and may take the dog out for a ramble if it peps up! There may even be photos!!!
  12. Very light intermittent grapple showers here. Dusting on the car but not sticking on the pats or road yet. Needs more intensity and a drop in temps. It 1.9 degrees with a dew point of -0.7
  13. Meanwhile the Irish Sea is delivering SFA for us here in east coast Ireland! Radar is dead and all the short range/Hi res models are showing the same...
  14. Dewpoint -4, air temp 2.1 at 2 mtrs. Humidity at 61%. Very brisk easterly now. Lots of cloud but zero pep in the streamers. Not an inkling of anything being stirred up in the Irish Sea.
  15. It can help fire up the jet, with rapid cyclogenesis but not always, once the block is in place, it can be difficult to shake anyway. Nothing showing up on the radar yet, was expecting to see some streamers develop by now. Will look again after dinner.
  16. Still just over 3 degrees, but the dew point is -3. Like you WW, a few tiny grains floating about in the wind now. No sign of streamers yet anywhere along the coast.
  17. Bone dry and overcast in Dublin and not that cold. Still over 3 degrees in an E/NE wind. Radar watching will begin after dinner tonight!
  18. Working last night, so popped the phone out from time to time to watch the overnight runs unfold. Delighted! Fair play to you, you did suggest GFS was as usual overplaying Atlantic low and not handling heights into Scandi! Kudos to you for that. My naturally pessimistic outlook wasn’t convinced at all. It’s been brilliant model watching these last few weeks! I’m off until Tuesday now, so hopefully I’ll get to enjoy snow with the brats!
