  1. BREAKING NEWS: The Dublin snow shield has been broken. Yes it’s very wet snow and it will be gone by afternoon, but it is snow! First time to have lying snow since 2018
  2. More chances of passing wintery showers for those in the NW for the next couple of days!
  3. I’d say some of you have a very pretty view out your windows right now!
  4. Don’t know why there is such doom from our northern members! Looks like you guys up north will have settling snow tomorrow but us in the greater Dublin snow shield area have to worry about flooding…
  5. Best of luck everyone. Remember, send photos and videos of the white stuff! I haven't seen lying snow since 2018, 6 long years!
  6. Weegaz I've holes in my knees from keeling down to v various God's and Deities!!! Oh and dislocated fingers from keeping them crossed!!!
  7. Nothing so far but cold rain on the afternoon runs. Certainly not for Thursday or Friday. More cases of 'Jam tomorrow" again for mid month....
  8. Me too, huge squall now. Windows rattling and everything! Deadly craic!
  9. Bloody weather station only reads gusts in Metres/second, so have to get the calculator out. Just recorded a 30.1 M/S gust which roughly equates to 110 kph gust. About 10/20 higher than what Met Eireann said we've had so far. I was watching the living room window bulge as it happened. Almost like a squall, but no rain falling. Another couple of hours of this ahead of us. Usually we don't lose the sparky in storms but there has been a flicker or 2 of the lights.
  10. Some amount of flights abandoning landing in Dublin tonight too. A few planes declaring fuel emergency. Mad night. Reports of a tornado outside Navan.
  11. I don't live far from the airport, and I can tell you the gusts are quite forceful and wild. Here's hoping they get on the ground soon.
  12. West and NW Ireland under red warning from this evening with rest of the island under amber according to Met Éireann. It’s incredibly gusty already. It’s going to be a long day!
  13. Nationwide amber alert for Ireland and a red marine warning for the NW. Probably upgrades to come. This looks lethal.
  14. Oh, absolutely! Plus we win the odd All Ireland the odd time too I wouldn't holiday in Dublin in a million years though. Give me the West of the island any day!
  15. Yes, I am terribly jealous, but they are beautiful pictures. I have very few pictures on the wall in my home, but there is one special one of our road just outside our house back in 2010. Everything pure white. It's one of my favourite pics (aside from kids pics) So please do keep them coming.
  16. Yep, have repaired my roof twice in the last 3 years because of wind! And no. not from my curry consumption! I love freak weather and watching the build up to it, but I'd prefer watching it on the coastline than watching it strip my roof, and I live in east Ireland, where we usually don't get the brunt of it all!
  17. Yes, they always get the brunt of the 'uninterrupted' winds. Some of the speeds shown on that UKV are certainly worthy of considering red. That said, it's still only a prediction. Warnings will start to appear on Met Eireann by tomorrow evening I'd say if confidence grows!
  18. Sunday looks lethal. These gust speeds are MPH! Surely a red warning for at least the SW of the island?
  19. Possibly red for a few areas. It's going to be a couple of days of strong winds afterwards too.
  20. On the tip of the realms of LALA land, the 192 from 12z ECM is interesting.Heights rising in Scandy, but the big blob of Vortex to our west has us in mild gusting SW'lies. Plenty of scope for improvement there. Still. very encouraging the NWP's keep showing Svalbard heights.
  21. I have a sneaky feeling all of our Ulster members will be doing OK in the end. However with the Dublin snow shield in full effect and not bothered by the likes of SSW's or Mountain torque events, my mind is diverted to Sunday. That's a horrible looking event. Red warnings for sure.
  22. For me, as much as I love cold and snow, the real watching brief is for this bloody storm on Sunday... That could lead to a red warning if it is any way close to how it's being modelled. Lot's of rain too, something I think we can all agree is not needed...
  23. I think I commented about a week or so ago about at the end of most of the runs, you could see the NWP trying to drain low heights away from Svalbard. Would be quite the 2010 redux if it did count down to T-0!
