  1. Reg Sealey Great to see! Liking the lamppost special effects to boot! Happy days Reg - we wait all winter scratching our nuts, and then when you least expect it...
  2. Apologies, off topic, but what the ****??? Currently snowing heavily in various parts of Devon! See attached, I'm just 25m above sea level, 500m away from the water. Further updates on the South/SWest forum... 20240327_220454.mp4
  3. Currently heavy wet snow here in Plymouth. It's settling on cars and roof-top's. I live just 500m from the waterfront, 25m above sea level. Has just been reported there's been 2 serious RTAs in the last half hour. No gritting. Completely caught out with this! 20240327_220454.mp4
  4. Good riddance to storm Irene for not having the decency to pay us snow-starved southerners a visit.... Rude, just damn rude...
  5. Looking at the Beeb earlier, their graphics indicated precipitation overnight tonight and in to tomorrow. Keeping everything crossed for you!
  6. Earlier on today, apparently, a woman rang NW and said she heard there was a snowstorm on the way... well, if you're watching, don't worry, there isn't!"
  7. A bold comment given "you've just popped in"? Ive been lurking here for most of the day/night. I'm sorry you've felt let down, because in my opinion the majority of poster's on here have been top class. I personally have read some of the best model discussion in years today... Perhaps you were unfortunate in your timing when popping in to this thread?
  8. Wowzers! It's suddenly hit home... Development's now in the reliable, and under way thick and fast!
  9. Yes I remember that spell too! Here in (the usually balmy) Plymouth, max daytime temps never exceeded minus 3c for several days, and min night temps were minus 7/8. There were ice and icicles everywhere, and pipes frozen for days!
  10. Living here in SW Devon we generally have to rely on the battleground scenarios. But wow what a reward when the cold air wins out! I remember the stress of watching the forecast time and time AGAIN in the 80's, when they would say "heavy rain turning to sleet and snow the further east it goes"... Would it, won't it... YESSS!! Narnia... Great memories, and it's been a long wait since... Maybe just maybe 2024 will conjure up some of that 80's euphoria...
  11. The nearer we get to 15th Jan the more we are getting (nervously) excited that you are going to nail this @Scott Ingham... and If you do, I will be the first to ask that the Meto name any future severe wintry episodes as 'SIRO'. .. S. cott I. ngham's R. evelationary O. utrbreak
  12. I like that D9 chart posted by @Ali1977 - yes it's a long way off, but what's not to like???...... and BTW I'm NOT foaming at the mouth... but thanks for your concern.
  13. Absolutely no! Although on an ordinary day we all normally dream of that 'ONE' stand-out P29, P12, etc, etc...
  14. Me too Mark. I was 17, a typical Jack the lad... and as soon as I listened to (on the radio) "severe weather incoming, heavy snow combined with freezing temperatures - please stay indoors and only travel if essential".... I was outside in a flash and trekking (nearly a mile and a half) to my mate's house for cold-weather-antics!! Fast forward to now (34 years)... and I've never been so excited with what's potentially unfolding...
  15. I too couldn't find John Kettley... BUT here's Ian Mccaskill bigging up the cold & snow back in Jan 1987... This current set-up just feels exactly like what led us to this...
  16. ... I'm very much a rebel, therefore I'm gonna say they 'must' be heavy!
  17. What a great, simplistic, factual and realistic post to commence a day, of what will be packed with comments, observations and posts near or far from this starting point. Thank you @Ruzzi, and to many other's on here for making people like me continue to learn and enjoy reading this amazing forum... Belated happy Xmas everyone, and here's to a potentially cracking start to 2024...
  18. That's a smart call... and when you're on here (as per the norm I hope) please continue to say, shout, scream, moan, laugh, cry. We wouldn't have you any other way!
