Exactly we always tend to do well from events like this expecting snowfall at 215m for how long is the question

Windstorm now showing on gfs and icon 18 z. Close to 80 mph for us in the south east. Could change obviously. But Monday morning could be a nasty commute

Looks like the worst for the south east will be Monday. Very high winds according to icon and gfs

I suppose it's possible that it's taking GFS place re the pub run, but let's hope not, I'm intrigued what the 0z might show in the morning.
Why anyone takes the gfs seriously is beyond me. Not saying icon is right. But gfs is cannon fodder I suppose it’s because it creates interest because it come out four time a day

I don't trust the GFS. It's too indecisive. One day it's saying Atlantic returns, the next, too cold for snow. That said, I'd take a (practically) snowless cold spell over a return to the endless mild Sothwesterly depressions . I'm still hoping that low may just flirt with the south though, that'd be perfect for us in the SW.
The gfs is cannon fodder. 4th performing model and yet people still look at it. Rather look at the Hiram. To be honest. For me I’d stick to the ecm and ukmo. You won’t be far off

Don't worry, it'll move again. I wouldn't be getting excited until a few days before if I was in the South. Its nice to look at but its a lottery at the minute, someone will hit the jackpot, but who? France or the South?
I agree. That low on the gfs seems too deep for me the ukmo has it shallower. I expect it to travel through northern France. But as ever more runs needed

Great run for extensive snowfall for the midlands. And back end snow for the south. But so far away no point really in looking. Snowfall could be anywhere. Everyone still has a ticket

Not great at these charts but isn’t that showing Greenland height with a north easterly ?

Synoptically it certainly is. But the uppers tell a less cold picture, at least initially
At day 10? Actually for balance the jma brings snow showers to the south east east of the country. On Sunday Monday all to play for and great model viewing

This may end up not being so dry as some think for the initial easterly at least
