Last time we were well inside an amber warning for wind like this was Feb 2014. Parts of coastal NW England had a red warning for wind. Won't forget that day in a hurry.
was that when your station roof blew off?

Matthew Hugo @MattHugo81
Upper trough/vorticity heading W Fri into Sat could enhance snow risk for central and eastern areas as flow becomes more E or NE'ly.

And to illustrate the potential here is a tweet fro Matt

Saturday's more widespread snow risk is now coming into range of the high resolution models.
Looking marginal, with those near to the North Sea coast more likely to see sleet or rain. Higher ground and areas further west having a greater chance of snow. It is in the form of showers though, so any accumulations will be patchy.
Yep however cherry picked chart i know but the Aperge has us under a streamer for approx 12 hours here is a snap shot and also shows how marginal these snow showers are

This main band keeps moving a little further south each run, places like the Cotswolds could do quite well out of this!!
Yes seems the further inland the more chance of seeing some snow. Haven't checked the dew points so not sure what it will be like on the coasts

I've checked a few of the higher res precip models and I have a feeling this won't just be the North getting the flurries, some show the south has just as good a chance. Could still be a few surprises of a cm or 2 in places anywhere in England I think.
Yep i agree Ali Northern and eastern England the best chance drifting into middle England however showers will develop widely i expect a few surprises. Surely it cant be rain?

For west midlands to be under a Amber warning is also very rare never really that bad this far inland.
