  1. Just watched the skiing forecast on BBC1. Really strange and bizzare that scotland seemingly has some of the best ski conditions possibly in the world currently yet none of it can get down to low ground............talk about planet cuckoo!

Yeah, west has done far better, but the overall picture has improved greatly this week. The west should be able withstand thaws pretty well, but the Lecht could lose its cover vrey quickly.

^ I think you've misunderstood, triple_x1 ,the Scottish mountains are currently caked in snow, it's just the low ground that's snow starved!

2007/08 certainly bears quite a strong similarity to this winter (so far!!)- copious quantities of snow on the mountains from westerly storms but almost none on low ground.

  4. It's been snowing in Aboyne and Lerwick - the UK's first April snow event since 2008 has arrived

Certainly not the UK's 'first April snow event since 2008'! Was snow above about 150m a few miles outside Glasgow at the beginning of April 2010! Every April will have some high ground snow anyway (not much in last year's balmy April, I'll give you that!)

  5. LOL! -14.7c @ Altnaharra @ 7pm, reporting light RAIN!

Hmm, yes Aviemore was reporting 'rain' at minus seven the other day on the Met Office website - automated weather stations and their data feeds have their limitations!
