  1. I’m on the Sheffield / North East Derbyshire border by the River Rother
  2. Can anyone post a link to a good free snow radar please ? ? nice 2-3 cm fallen on and off through the night in South Sheffield tonight, look s like more on way through night and tomorrow
  3. Got around 2 cm ,nice covering ,all melted on road and pavements , temp hovering around 1 deg , not sure if any in forecast tonight ?
  4. Would somebody be so kind and send a link for the best free radar please - ta
  5. Buxton, Leek , high peak looks like the sweet spot for me , west Sheffield ,Stocksbridge etc might be on the edge - the front will bump right up to the cold air , let's see who wins out , MOGREPS / BBC don't often get this wrong
  6. Just looking at the national BBC graphics on their latest video forecast , it's showing the snow line to be around the Pennines , looks like Sheffield might just miss out , depends how Far East the front gets, I usually back the BBC as they use Meto \ MOGREPS data , funnily enough it's the cold air that we need in that will stall the front pushing East, but we have had some severe snow in these set ups before, window watching from around 18:00 then.
  7. Just started here now - sizeable flakes as well but light â„ï¸â„ï¸
  8. Yes, we are really low , I'm about 10 meters above the River Rother , probably one of the lowest points in Sheffield , such a pain when searching for the white stuff ,having come originally from Gleadless Town End , where it always gets pasted ( being a lot higher) , but we have done well these last 3 events ( Boxing Day, last Thurs & today) .â„
  9. For the record I'm 52 metres above sea level , light snow has now stopped
  10. Light snow falling ,I'm right on the Sheffield / Derbyshire border ( River Rother) close to Eckington & Killamarsh
  11. Over half way through February 14 and most people are going to experiance a 100% snow free Winter. Weak ridges of high pressure crossing the UK at times, but the outlook until the end of February continues to favour unsettled conditions. More wind and rain unfortunately for most looking at this mornings output to my very untrained eye !!
  12. Meto have navigated their way through this Winter with great professionalism, ( as they have too of course) but great posts from Ian and colleagues on this forum really help the novices ( me included) navigate their way through some of the posts - as already said above whatever the models have shown this year Meto have been bang on the money with their forecasts this Winter , obviously the finances used on the "super models" they use is money and time well spent it appears.
  13. Anyone know a link for a good fre radar please ?
  14. Just had a massive thunder storm with lighting and really heavy rain - seems strange for January
  15. Don't be drawn in ......Garden & Path spring to mind .... You could'nt make this up !
  16. I'm sure I echo everyone's thoughts, great to see you back, we have all missed your very knowledgable posts
  17. People like John Holmes & Gibby for me "tells it how it is" , no hope or wish casting , I have been following this forum for a few years and experiance tells me that certain posters tend to post charts that suit their preferred outcome, I must admit as a novice myself it becomes difficult ,but you will through experiance find out the which members are more or less on the money. Please don't be put off !!
  18. Just echoing what many others probably think JH - very informative and concise to us novices, your posts are never agenda driven, just how you see it . Thank you JH, keep up the great work
  19. Hi , Sorry for this in advance mods, I noticed some educational links posted on here a while ago on how to read the models , I wonder if anyone has the links to hand - much appreciated in advance
  20. I reckon we will see a little later for Sheffield - snow is likely above about 200m this afternoon with 1-2cm possible. After 18:00 snow levels will drop with most places potentially seeing a covering of 1-3cm, with a further 2-5cm at higher elevations. The snow should have petered out by around 07:00 am Mon Morning .
  21. Just drove from Stocksbridge where there is around 1 cm of lying snow on gardens not tarmac - where Temps where at -1 to Mosborough where it is just all rain and temps at +3 . Prob at its warmaest atm though so I think the temps will start to lower within next 2 hours ,still bags of ppn left on the radar.
  22. Alot of radars down atm , due to high internet traffic im hearing - the smallest flakes still coming down here , with about 1 cm of covering since it began at 7:30 ish - South Sheffield/Derbyshire Border
