  1. Awww - raining in MARCH 20 miles south of Peterborough - temp 1.5 c has risen 0.5 in half hour - not looking good Im afraid - mind you cannot get much lower than us - about 12ft above sea level lol!
  2. Hi Mrs F Hope yr not encouraging little Miss F to miss School! In fact I thibk that you should diirect them showers 20 miles south over me instead - I really need a day off work. My forecast some days ago was for some snow Thurs/Fri but I am not optimistic now!
  3. Just walked the dog - pretty breezy and about 1 cm snow - can see few stars between clouds but few flakes still falling - Keep fingers crossed Mrs F16!
  4. Hi All its that bird lover from the Fens. Garden has been much busier today i honestly reckon the birds are stocking up for colder times. As I said yesterday charts say to me patience is a must - this is going to be a drip fed cold spell. I really do not see v cold before Friday but still a gradual move that way with a pep up in the sleet/snow showers in East Anglia. As a total novice when it comes to the science I do say listen to the profs on here - nobody should be talking beyond 5 day max in any detail at this time of year - boring I know but true. Good to see you on Mrs F16 - what does that stand for!?
  5. I stick to thursdayFriday as first real prospect of anything substantial for us. By the way more birds in the garden today as well! Yr one busy lady - shopping, looking after the in-laws,the 'Woodman' - - and making snowmen!? Fenboy
  6. Gives me hope that Snowmans forecast just now very much in line with my predictions earlier today. Best of snow chance thusday/ friday - after that anyones guess what the weather holds. These dank damp days this time of year usually indicate that change will not be dramatic so i reckon Sunday - Tuesday may be a little frustrating for some. MrsF16 have been to a 'Woodman' in Thorpe Wood area once or twice. if its that one - I like yr choice - I seem to remember it is Greene King! lol
  7. Made a trip to the Welney Washes today. Warden there confirmed a increase in the duck and gull populations in last 24 hrs as they join in the feeding times of the bEwick and mute swans. Raw day with a lot of low mist. MrsF16 I stick to what I said last night - gradual progression to best snow chance Thursday /Friday. PS MrsF16 whats the name of yr local? Fenboy
  8. Hello Mrsf16 - you kindly replied to my first ever blog last night. I fully agree with you about the Kids!! I shall be out and about Sat/Sun looking for increased bird flocks moving in from caost - I reckon the cold is going to come a little at a time from Monday onwards - snow chancesbest latter part of next week. Question not down to the pub tonight!¬ lol
  9. Thanks for the welcome! I will have a chat with Eye in the Sky sometime. Sometimes when the charts are up and down as they have been recently the natural world can give as good a lead as anything.
  10. Hi from a new boy who has been around the Fens for nearly 60 years! Can I just say that from my experience many of the preludes to a cold spell comes from just the weather we are seeing at the moment - somewhat less dramatic than is forecast the day before. The Atlantic mild is not doing as well as many would want to believe. That leads me to be pretty confident of at least a weeks colder weather Then the best forecast 'chart' I will be looking for over the next few days will be an influx of birds from the coast - as reliable a sign of real cod on the way as any of the charts we all seem so sonsumed by at the moment. Ill let you know by end of weekend if numbers have increased.
