    So checked the models just now and thought all looked pretty good to me for the Xmas period - then checked into the Mod thread and thought i'd ventured into a parallel universe - bizarre place where toys being thrown if a less than BOOM chart is now being shown on an Op run

    If we can’t have sub zero ice days along with copious amounts of snow then please an above average temp for Dec - makes the golf so much more pleasurable

    Thought i'd better check the meto extended forecast as a few posts indicating it was fab - imho looks awful, extended periods of rain followed by showery rain with a chance of some snow and feeling a little colder mainly up north -lead up to Xmas drier tho milder. Can't wait

    Well meto forecast not exactly brimming with hope either if wanting a more seasonal feel over xmas - the log fire in my local will be rarely lit

    Sounds like a contradiction here if you're writing off Winter due to current modelling yet the same models not able to forecast snow at short range

    Milder next week though cold returns in the latter period so not bad

    It looks like the jet stream will be cranking up so think the models could be correct here

    Spectacular 12z runs so far - the only moan i can have is that subsequent operational runs will inevitably be a downgrade from this set. Still think we are in for a decent cold spell but await the tantrums tomorrow as snowmeggadon charts get watered down

    Metcheck so JFF - based on GFS I believe but good to look at for my location - Farnham

    London mean EPS 850 temps range from a barely useful -4.3 on the 6th Feb then rising ever upwards to a pitiful -0.6 on the 13th Think that says it all really (slightly better further north you go, tho not much)
