Thats because the forecast has changed quite dramatically - these Tstorms are now being pushed back until early eve now (if at all) and with what was originally on offer it will be a disappointment - carol K and 'Humdingers' lol
Yep its gunna be a big fat forecasting bust ! eggs face etc etc. There will of of course be a maddenesque escape clause due to one torrential downpour occuring somewhere in the UK :-)
Its a big downgrade from yesterday - any thunderstorms progged well after 5 I would think and can see that becoming very localised. Oh well its a familiar tale !
Here in Southampton it's pretty gloomy and radar doesn't offer much hope of any sun in the near term . East of here is where any action will be I think
A positive temp anomaly chart is not particularly interesting though is it and not what I suspect the majortity want to see in winter ! Those charts are jff with good reason but at least they offer some albeit remote hope for coldies
Who'll be monitoring the OPI on a daily basis from next Oct then ? Think I may give a it a miss this year - shame as seemed to promise so much when all the hype started back then !
Oh to have a forecast like this to look forward to - Massachusetts

Fair enough but they might as well just issue a general 'be aware' ice warning for the whole of the uk covering the next 7 days - its winter and it gets cold at night so nothing that exceptional !
These metoffice warnings are a bit of a joke really - I mean 1-2cms for our region - does this really warrant a warning. Seems like they issue a warning whenever there is the slightest chance of a snow shower
^^ yep take your point CS so here's hoping - just getting a bit negative over this cold spell tbh. Think the best snow prospects for the southern counties is when/if the atlantic tries to get it's act together towards the end of next week - a nice battleground scenario would be perfect !
Don't wish to be negative but this cold spell looks to be just a dry but pretty much snowless one for us in the south - post looking at the latest models
Don't really expect too much excitement in SE apart from some transitory snowfall in the next couple of days, Fergie allluded to the 2nd/ 3rd Feb where there is a possibility of something a little more interesting
Give me last winter any day - this winter has so far been the most drab/boring/dull nothingness I've know for a while. Last winter at least had the excitement of some decent storms - will never forget the trips to Chesil Beach to watch some pretty impressive swells barrelling in
Interesting comment re fetgie on the mod thread and to marvel at the forecast for basically zonal weather for the foreseeable. Would be an interesting experiment to transpose the US weather guys to our shores and vice versa. Methinks the US lot would be bored out of their minds with our weather
