  1. Wet snow here becoming more iced snow covering the cars..not much else.. yet!
  2. The far South is stuck under the slightly milder zone, your winds probably westerly drawing in milder air other than colder air as further north/east, dew points/surface temps higher so rain falls not snow.Look at the charts below from NAE for 3am Upper temperatures 850/1000hpa: Dew points: Surface Temps: Next the Surface pressure, follow the lines onto the near continent and the feed of a colder southeasterly , The surface wind chart below same time: ESS
  3. Precipitation charts evening updates NAE midnight to 6am: GFS midnight chart GFS 6am GFS 12pm Charts show snow around SE/EA into Monday morning with some patches/shws of sleet or snow through Monday. Next is Tuesday, GFS shows light snow around Last, GFS Wednesday Eve Shows heavy snow across Northern England but changes may occur and things shift south, this is what i expect and that bringing us into the situation of sleet/snow event, i think we keep the cold as the fronts hit so i expect snow event Wednesday before rainfall then milder with rain after that. Moving ahead and the milder weather only temporary with cold returning by next week, i imagine some more snow events as the cold battles to shift away! ESS
  4. The flakes are sticking together, with this occurrence it covers quickly
  5. GFS and NAE 18z keep snow going overnight into the morning across the SE and EA(snow could affect more of EA that has not had snow yet), with some sleet/snow patches around through the day for many. Tuesday a slight upgrade to snow, although not significant at this stage.
  6. Can't tell you how many times iv'e checked the thermometer!
  7. Wet snow falling now light-steady Cobham Surrey (near Esher/Epsom) areas. Elevation 50m or less. Tonight it's all about radar/lamppost watching if you have these, reports. Possible snow Tuesday.
  8. 2.5C (was 3.5C 50mins ago)sleet, some large flakes for the first time today(since the last half hour) in Cobham Surrey near Esher/Weybridge areas. Hope to give an update on the situation in a while to what we can expect
  9. Keep check for heavy ppn early eve, overnight if it's lighter would fall as snow , we are in a fine place for snow!
  10. It's not the temprature i'm worried about but the ppn amounts!! temps/dew points falling this eve/overnight
  11. 3.5C in Cobham near Esher/Weybridge, been dropping around 1C an hour, certainly feeling the bite out there! sleet/rain mix over the last hour, Southeasterly wind(xc weather)lots of precipitation across the SE on radar, should start to get more snow reports after dark or within the next 2/3hours as the cold air flow from the continent cuts into the rain turning it to snow!
  12. You are in a good location for the snow SR, Kent gets the lower dew points, colder continental air, all you need is the ppn and the models show that!
  13. I have created a snow map for the SE/EA the highest risk of significant snow from late afternoon Sunday, with late eve and the early hours of Monday being when the more intense snow should develop. Pulses of heavy snow some very heavy should develop but some areas seeing lighter stuff, Kent and up through East Sussex and through the London area and further north from here potentially getting large snowfalls, i expect parts of Surrey and west Sussex to join in late Sunday with snowfall here, How far into east EA it gets i'm not to sure, i am expecting the system to slow, some areas getting many hours of snow, Kent snow starting earlier as the very cold air sweeps in from the continent. For most rain turning to sleet and snow, the heavy ppn helping to cool the air as the chill hits from the se. ESS
  14. The colder air sucked of the continent chilling the air, turning rain/sleet to snow, i think Kent would be having snow falling earlier.
  15. Done a quick animation earlier (below) (can take a copy if you want) Next is a screen snap of xc weather, if you had to many beers you might experience this... Anyway just got back on so i'm off to read through some pages on here!
  16. Worth keeping check on sleet/snow for later today especially to the west of our region
