  1. Wednesday 5th December Across England we have a developing potential snow event, this arriving into Southeast England through this morning, heavy snow showers are over Scotland, and sleet or snow showers down the East coast heading into Northeast England, i have drawn up a snow map on where i expect the snow to fall, Scotland, the Midlands, East Anglia, London and the Southeast at highest risk of heavy snow through this morning, and also near east coastal areas seeing potential snow showers, these are already into Scotland and running down the East coast now, with an area of moderate/heavy wintry sleet and snow across central UK(Midlands..)heading south. Some areas could see a covering of snow or adding to snow cover. Moderate Risk of the SE snow event - For London and the SE i expect 1-2cm widespread with as much as 5cm on the hilly areas, there is the risk of more maybe up to 10cm in some local spots-if this does occur then i expect this to affect the areas north/west/south of London over the higher routes. There have been upgrades to this snow event since tuesday evening, with an increasing risk of this event producing a covering of snow for many Southeast areas this morning. ESS
  2. This is the 850/1000hpa Thickness for just about the right time..
  3. A weather system moves down from the north through Tuesday, this occluded front bringing much colder air down to the south by wednesday. Through Tuesday heavy snowfall is likely to arrive over Scotland and becoming prolonged through the afternoon or evening and giving some large accumulations over the hills, with snow settling to low levels to, this snow heading into northern England into Tuesday night and pushing south into Wednesday, i'm not confident at this stage of how much snow could fall as it moves south, although i expect areas like the Midlands to see settling snowfall, the lowest risk for snow is the far south, inland areas north of London and into East Anglia could get some sleet or snow. Following the occluded front are shower troughs, these soon getting into Scotland giving significant snowfall Tuesday night and Wednesday, an area of sleet and snow showers could affect the east coast areas and down as far south as EA later Wednesday. Below is a map to show the areas most at risk from snow on Tuesday and Wednesday: ESS
  4. This was an excellent fantasy script written by Azores Hi, so i just had to take a copy of the post and do a little design work(my main work) and the result is the old looking page below. Image is text from original post in quote below placed on a very old looking piece of paper and an ancient looking font to! I left the quote info on image.
  5. This thread is now called Snow Watch, this is for snow forecasts only that can be just text or you can post weather-type charts, precipitation rain/snow charts, or your own warning maps. Welcome to Snow Watch
  6. If you not been to this link then this is a good one, has rain/snow charts data/radar http://www.meteoblue.com/en_GB/weather/map/precipitation1h/united_kingdom#navigation
  7. Freezing day and then rain! what does it take to get snow down this way..The reason is that a warm sector is heading our way, this sector of warm air is what melts the snow on the way down from the cloud, sometimes it can start changing back to snow after it melts through the nose of warmer upper air as it falls through a lower layer(nearer to ground)of cold air which then creates a half melted snowflake called sleet. This warmer sector is not staying for long but it has come at the wrong time, as i say quite often it can rain tonnes but not often does it fall as snow down here in the SE.
  8. That trough in the northsea has a smile on it.. that type that brings snow..Any how the 528dam is off shore from the south coast, certainly a one day mild day tomorow then it turns cold quickly from tuesday early hours
  9. There a wet ground, not sure if it was snow as not much light round here, gutters creaking a sure sign of warmer air i think, well that's what they do in snow to rain events..
  10. NAE 18z snow/rain 1800-0000hrs 0000-0600hrs 0600-1200hrs Next is a radar image at 2200hrs (radar images are screen snaps of the free Netweather radar, this only shows rainfall, to see where snow is you need to upgrade radar)
  11. It's like a freezer out there, hoping to get some snowflakes on the edge. Had shade frost all day.
  12. If you've not seen it then check out my thread here: http://forum.netweat...w-hunters-club/ (snow hunters club) on the latest snow developments! Thanks.
  13. Weather system moving across all areas Sunday, a front hitting the cold block is likely to create a significant frontal snow event for Northern England and Scotland late Sunday and into Monday-orange boxed zoned area, several hours of snowfall is likely for some areas, significant accumulations are likely over hills, even some low levels could get a covering.I have drawn a map of this snow risk using the latest model output data from this evening. Map below: For areas in the yellow boxed area further south there is the risk of falling sleet or wet snow for a while before turning to rain, this risk highest to the north and east of the yellow boxed zone, i don't expect any settling snow over the yellow box zone. The far north yellow zone could get some heavy snow showers. The timing of, the track of the system, and the intensity of the precipitation all playing a part in how this snow event develops, for example is the mild sector shifts further south then the SE/EA gets in on the risk of snow settling. It looks as though Monday if a milder day in the south, but then quickly turning cold again from Tuesday, and a cold wintry outlook for all areas ESS
  14. It is likely that December is a cold month, the second half signals very cold generally, potentially we could get plunged into a prolonged freeze, this is something that is in development.
  15. I expect this to develop into a northern snow event, are be updating on the risk later..
  16. GFS-18z(500-1000hpa) This warm sector with mondays low is the only yellow i can find over the next 12days The gfs run through the next 2 weeks is cold, and at times wintry with heavy falls of snow over northern hills. There is a few whips at cold being stronger, and it won't take to much of a change in the right direction(for cold)to get snow in the south to low levels, i don't see any sign in the forecast models of a mild Dec, only flirts into the sw/s at times, the north is on for quite alot of hill snow over the days ahead with some getting to low levels. Cold and wintry!
  17. It's freezing out there and for some it won't only be frost that your scrapping off the windows... Through Friday Scotland could see some accumulated snowfall over the hills, progressively even affecting to lower levels through the day, this risk pushing into Northern England later Friday and into Saturday, over the weekend some snow showers from a North-Sea feature could develop snow down the east side of the UK most likely coastal zones and as far south as East Anglia i expect, now there is the chance depending on the cold spell development that we get the snow showers into SE England late Saturday, but for now i have done a small map to indicate the snow risk in high to moderate risk zones. (for those that view my maps, i am trying to get the maps more simple and smaller size, and below is a go at that) ESS
  18. The cold has set in and looks like lasting through the weekend, Scotland could get snow on Friday over the mountains and lower hills, a risk of this getting to low levels, this snow risk spreading south but most likely affecting East UK coastal areas Saturday and Saturday night as a feature develops here, on Monday a strong weather system moves in from the Atlantic bringing heavy downpours and gales, this system hitting the cold air could bring snowfall to northern hills depending on how the cold develops and how the low tracks in.
  19. Welcome to The Snow Hunters Club, if you like snow and want to know where it might fall, then this is the place to be! Here we take a close look at where snow is possible over the days ahead throughout winter. I would prefer that if charts are posted that they are only weather type charts or snow charts, or precipitation charts indicating sleet/snow and with a description of what is shown and areas affected. ESS
  20. Excellent photos Louby! they are pro looking shots!
  21. I have looked through the slide show forecast and i enjoyed every frame, excellent presentation! Thankyou! Must say that the amount of information presented is incredible in all your posts and forecasts Stewart(GP), so technical yet so well explained. I look foward to the video forecast!
  22. The map covers all of Monday and i have just enlarged the map as the text was to small on viewing.
  23. Weather systems continue to affect the UK through Monday, further heavy rainfall is likely, more prolonged heavy rain is likely across Wales with North Wales most at risk and Northern England, these areas could see many hours of rainfall. Other parts of South UK seeing heavy showers or downpours after a band of heavy rain moves across overnight and into the morning, some prolonged downpours are possible maybe thundery. I have made a map using latest model data. Please keep up to date with the forecasts and warnings. Keep check frequently on the river flood warnings at the Environment Agency Link here:http://www.environme...oods/31618.aspx ESS
