  1. Getting a few flakes of snow in Cambridge
  2. Been snowing in Cambridge for about an hour - small flakes but quite heavy
  3. After what happened with the no-snow today and seeing the boring no-snow weather forecast earlier, I thought I would forget about the radar and have a nice evening watching TV, as there didn't seem to be anything to look forward to. Just looked out the window and I have a covering of snow!! The radar shows it's been snowing here for a little while. I'm going to stop radar-watching if this is what happens. It's my fault Cambs didn't get any snow. I'm going to turn off my computer so the snow continues throughout the night!!
  4. We've had very light snow here for about an hour. Doesn't seem to be that much coming through on the radar now. There's a big dry zone across EA. Is there much left of this front in the Channel or has it broken up and gone through already?
  5. That front seems to be stuck over the Channel - I can only guess it must have taken the Eurostar
  6. I have a feeling this low won't make it too far inland - it'll fizzle out after hitting the Norfolk coast - hence no orange warnings for Cambs. I hope I'm wrong and wake up to snow, but this whole cold snap has been day after day of watching showers disappear as the head inland. I can't see this being any different. If you go to the Meteox site there's band of showers moving across the North Sea ahead of the main low. This just splits up and fizzles out over the North Sea. It doesn't pep up. The main low, I'm sure, will do the same
  7. The weather forecast updated at 15:26 on the BBC site shows no snow at all over this region until Monday. I thought we were getting some tonight? All very confusing

  9. Had some showers overnight which has left us with a few cm this morning. Loads of showers coming off the North Sea but, because of the wind direction, they are dying out before they get to me again as they are travelling right across Norfolk to get here. Cambridge seems the limit where they get to so perhaps they might catch a few showers today.
  10. Nice to see some of the showers coming in off the Wash and North Norfolk not dying out as much as they did earlier. I tracked a big one heading my way for about half and hour and it actually hit me and gave me a couple of cm in the space of 10 mins - the first time this has happened in this cold spell. Then the damed gritter lorry came through and covered it. You gotta larf!!
  11. That big blob is over Grafham Water at the moment - the first blob to do so in this whole cold spell. I actually have a cm of snow now
  12. Bucks, Beds, Cambs, Herts, Peterborough, Norfolk thread sounds good - we can all pile in there and have a good moan. Having said that, a big blob has finally made it to me without disappearing and given me lovely coating of snow.
  13. Aaarrrggghh. All these showers coming in off the north sea and they break up as they get towards me. What's going on!! There are massive blobs coming straight for me and they just disappear. The coldest snap for 30-odd years and I haven't got one inch to show for it.
  14. Continuing to get light snow here as well. Only tiny flakes but it is coming down quite hard - enough to dust the paths. Still, it's better than seeing nothing at all! Edit: flakes much bigger and coming down quite hard. Weird, because there's nothing on the radar. Anyone else having this issue with the NW radar? I know when the snow is light, it doesn't always pick it up, but for heavier showers it should?
  15. Snowing lightly here in West Cambs - the showers coming through the Wash are coming straight for me but, like yesterday, they are losing intensity as they approach. Actually, in truth, TEITS is nicking all the snow before it gets to me, the rotter!!
  16. I don't understand how the showers off the North Sea coming into Lincolnshire and Yorkshire don't fizzle away when they move inland, but they do when they come into the Wash. It's amazing how they are not making an impact in Cambridgeshire. We should be getting hammered!
  17. I know - depressing isn't it. The Cambridgeshire snow-shield working wonders again today!!
  18. The problem is that I'm 15 miles south west of Peterborough and these showers are dying out before they even get to me, so I can't see (unless they are progged to maintain their intensity) how people south of Peterborough and the Wash will get snow
  19. Grrrr - the snow clouds are breaking up right before they get to me
  20. Hi, Eye - is the wind forecast today going to stay a north-easterly? Looks like we could catch some of the these showers if that's the case. Being in the west of the county, I need that NE wind to keep me in the frame!
  21. I posted this just before it was locked: The showers coming in off The Wash seem to be dying as soon as they hit land, which is a shame. Quick question - the showers coming off the North Sea further north are keeping the same intensity and don't die away. How come the showers coming off the North Sea into The Wash die quickly?

  23. Just made it home to West Cambs from Cambridge. Glad I left when I did. Conditions from St Neots northwards were atrocious - very heavy snow. Have a lovely covering of snow (1 inch), so I'm happier!! Seems to be getting lighter but I see the front is now moving south, so the snow will stop here soon
