Couldn't agree more, desperately need a decent summer this year :)

  2. 2006 has the highest total and ironically, for us in the UK, it was the best summer of recent times data:image/png;base64,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
  3. After much model watching, my personal forecast for September is for a warmer, sunnier and drier than average month but not spectacular. I think it's very unlikely we'll get a heatwave anything like last years late-September/early-October heatwave but obviously that would be really welcomed for some. Pleasent weather does look likely though throughout the month
  4. http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/news/local/roads-shut-as-floods-hit-fylde-1-4835834 This is after the massive downpour that occured from like 1530-1550 today...
  5. Winter floods? It's going to be a warm unsettled spell..
  6. to be completely honest it looks like a NW/SE split warm spell, as per usual. us in the NW will be missing out again...

      I Cumbria Marra I

no, the warmth will get up as far as north lancashire imo so a good part of NW England will get some good temps 20-25c

      Summer Sun

      21.3°C here in Darlington

    15c 850 So Far North?!

Feel free to close this if it happens often, but looking GFS FI, it shows the 15C line for 850s incredibly far north: Is this rare?!

    Weather In Spain

If only a nice high would develop to the east of the UK, we would be in business...

    Mid July 2006

If September had been in Augusts' place, it would have been more remarkable since the heat returned in a big way during September which came to a shock to most people around here!
  10. I hope the GFS 18z is correct. High pressure incharge from Monday onwards, and the whole of the UK would be warm from Tuesday onwards. Fingers crossed!

The Feb snow of '96 was amazing for NW England, was a huuuuge event in Blackpool!

    Imported Continental Lows

Sounds rather spectacular does that, I hate how they seem to be so rare, especially nowadays!

    Imported Continental Lows

Hey guys, Does anyone have any charts and stories to share of some summer imported continental lows that have occured in the past, bringing hot and humid temperatures with some intense thunderstorms? On tonights 18Z (deep in FI, as you'd expect) such a chart can be seen and it got me thinking, it must have been a good while since we've had one in summer. We really need a change from these atlantic lows, I'm going crazy with boredom when it comes to our weather thanks to these last two and half weeks! We need something more interesting, I do wish this would happen! Thanks

    Australian Weather

Indeed it does, though that cold spell was quite notable in some parts for the temperatures though much more so for mainland Europe.
  16. This thread is actually painful to read

Shortlived Heatwave In Early July 1952

I must have gotten her ascension and coronation confused Nope, because that was in Feb '52. Yikes
  19. Where can I find values for this short-lived heatwave, please? http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/archive/ra/1952/Rrea00119520706.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/archive/ra/1952/Rrea00219520706.gif

Shortlived Heatwave In Early July 1952

Thanks for the figures! And just a month after Her Majesty's coronation! It looks rather similar to the May warm spell of this year for the NW !!!
  21. Johnathan Powell, of Vantage Weather? What the hell... He's not even a reliable source. Wasn't he apart of that weather site that was exposed to be completely false.
