True but everybody wants this FI charts being shown by many models to come true. B But I would go as far as to say even Saturday at this stage could be considered FI, so much difference between runs. I'm taking everything >72 hours with a pinch of salt until I see some firm agreement between models and I think everyone else should do the same to avoid disappointment.

I feel for the weather forecasters. Watching them today has been really cringe-worthy, as many have admitted that they just can't forecast past Friday at the moment. All they've said is "it's going to get colder and it may be prolonged and snowy". Sucks to be them right now!

Drop a couple of CMs of snow, let the proper cold air establish, watch those temperatures fall. Then we'll have some N and E reloads to top-up Then it can warm up late-Feb TY But in all seriousness, I like this precip chart as it brings us in Western England a better chance of some snow over the weekend!

The high extends from Greenland to Southern Spain and Africa, fantastic!

UKMO looking great! So, ECM & UKMO both looking good for cold and snow. Now, let's hope the GFS falls into line. Whilst this latest run is better than the 6z, I'm hoping it'll come into agreement with the other two.

With that high pressure in place it would stay cold, France & Spain get the real cold on this run so far! I'm sticking with the ECM

I'm still wondering if I'll get snow in Blackpool, we'll have to wait and see. Should these runs come off however, a cold snap will hit the entire of the UK and Ireland

I'm excited for everyone, but it seems myself in Blackpool will be stuck with frost and ice - as is the case with this set-up. I hope we can get a raging Northerly out of this a la Novemeber/December 2010, whereby we had an intense NE/E for a while, which destroyed the East of the UK and Ireland, followed by that unforgettable Northerly which left much of the UK completely white!

I'm sick to the back teeth of Atlantic driven weather....

It seems the Atlantic may start losing steam in the New Year (about bloody time). Watch this space!

Indeed it does. We should remember that the Winter of Discontent (63) didn't get into 5th gear until January. We've got plenty of time for some snowmaggedon scenarios!
