  1. name='Paul Sherman' timestamp='1327355752' post='2220145'] N1 Steve Thats gotta be the furthest South Excellent photos mate, quite unusual for the Aurora to be seen so far south? Dam it and here was me tucked up in bed when I could have been witnessing one of the best displays that Mother Nature has to offer! Thanks guys some beautiful pics on this forum my shots shows how weak the Aurora is this far south at least on Sunday I can't wait to see Aurora in storm proportions with real vivid colours that you can almost touch :-)
  2. Hi Paul suggested I post my Pictures from last night I shot from North Norfolk on the beach of Salthouse which is west along the coast from Sherringham. Aurora was shot at just after 0100hrs Using a Canon EOS 5D MK11 WITH A CANON 50MM F1.8 LENS SHOT AT 1600ISO @ F1.8 FOR 10SECS Now it has only taken me 20 odd years to get it in the can!!! now I have I want bigger and brighter :-) bit like storm chasing really ........... once yer been bitten :-)
  3. The HRRR shows near the same maybe a little North of your Target looks good for seeing something :-) fingers crossed
  4. Good old Woodward has always been kind to us :-)

  6. Hi all, well its over for us this year 24 days of chasing, I am so tired we have clocked up around 9000 miles, Tom and Paul Ian Pat real sorry things didnt work out at the BIG T we ate so late that everything got messed up, im gona put in a complaint about this mainly that they charged us a 18% service charge that they did not deserve, and they made us wait for ever for our food, anyway glad you have all had a great time and hope to catch up this summer back home. Signing off from the USA Steve.
  7. Good luck for today guys, we have really pushed the Miles, yestreday was a very long wait in 92F roasting at Murdo SD, Tstorms exploaded after 1900hrs some nice pictures stills and video got a brief touch down at Winner SD but a Lighting display that only Equals Nebraska 2004 the grim news was we booked into a Days Inn at Murdo SD and ended up down in Nebraska 150 milesaway after midnight form all our luggage -- it was a late night, anyway we are gona trundel down to North Platte for starters today.
  8. Couple of Pics from me really need to sleep ngt ngt everyone glad you are all safe tomorrow is another day in the Alley.
  9. Defo thats why we didnt head for the north attack and headed down to Norman for a different play but even then everyone and their pet hamster was out looking at s**t spinning cold outflow features all coooing and claiming Tornados I can only imagine what a circus it was North of OKC
  10. Day off pleaseeeeeeeeee another great day with a super Tornado along side Gorky probably the first of the day at leedey, I must say that some of the lighting today with the last light was spectacular brilliant oranges purples as massive brilliant white updraft towers corkscrewed skywards, really good day totally knackered now, we are chilled out after a slap up Tornado meal at outback mmmmmmmmmm
  11. Well done you lot, guess we were all there and around it what a monster large multi vortex --cool
  12. Hi everyone, its been a busy few days with Tuesday Wednesday looking like its gona be a bit good its all go out here in the Alley we either chase storms and take pictures or chew gum and Im all out of Gum! a few images from the last few days. currently in Altus Oklahoma little lightning tonight storms weakened quickly after dark, nice hotel though so having a rest, tomorrow --- god I could do with a day off, we all could.
  13. Yo, we got into all the junk got pretty well hammered near Odessa I thought the glass was gona go, got a brief spin up Tornado bit later on and ended up way south down near the i10 after leaving the last cell of the day some nice wall clouds trying to form supercells all over the place a good chase day but not without a few dings :-( now staying the night on i10 at Fort Stockton for tomorrows chase
  14. Hi Tom ----- not unless she has turned into a big ugly fat moose !! lol was a caravan to get a hotel here tonight but never mind glad yer had something today fingers crossed for tomorrow, ngt ngt
  15. OK WHAT HAVE WE GOT TO DO TO GET A TORNADO!!! just drove through the Woodward cell as it got Active Vortex 2 all over the place again and Tornado grounded not a mile away in the dark behind us while we drove in the town with Tornado Sirens whaling away !! that was cool but ---dam! just 10 more mins of light !! uggg now booked into the DAYS INN WOODWARD Regards, Steve
  16. Hi Guys, we got out in one peice!!! after leaving our hotel in Enid we sat patently on the lower risk play just SE of Shawnee and jumped on the big one as it approuched but sadley this thing like all the rest was moving like a blinking train we knew it was down and was deadly raced passed it at Seminole as Vortex team shot away after a deployment of one of there tripds trees every blinking where but we sat just south of it as it went on by no visual but circulating clouds above very strong winds and violent CGs as it passed, then another cell was on a direct course for us and some scared familys at a gas station it started to show the same shape and size of the long track which had just passed with several rotations on the Baron we decided we had to shift and squeeze between 2 supercells leading us and the 2 famlilys to safty and clear air phew disapointed not to see the dam thing as it was sooo close but it was just to dangerous and moving to fast to risk it getting any closer :-( pleased to get the target zone correct as it was away from the main play with better torrain and a bit of luck we would have seen it, never mind theres always another day.
  17. Hey Nick it was a excellent find, Pete as you see got some blinding shots, tornado reported about 12miles away from us, quite glad in some way we didnt get in the Big Hail as we had no shelter for our car :-) today we head to OKC meeting up with a friend for beer and steak tonight, nothing to be had till Sunday night so shopping and chilling till then.
  18. I THINK IN THIS INSTANCE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE PROFESSIONAL IF THIS OFFICER would have followed the Ambulance behind and had a word after they had conveyed this patient, IMO this has put the police dept in that state in bad light ---he could have waited, I dont condone the bloke in front actions but DAM! that looked bad on camera oh and another Youtube VIdeo the Paramedic stated that the patient had Chest Pain although in this country we wouldnt be messing around at normal road speeds with a chest pain
  19. DAM THATS WACK!!! Well all I can say is ref Police Video is I dont think it could happen here, a Paramedic has a lot more clout in what happens and are Colleagues in the Police would respect what we say there are lines that all of us in the Emergency Services will not cross.
  20. Hi all times are counting down, me Pete and Simon are out on the 5th there will aways be a storm to be had somewhere the most I have ever gone without any activity is 5 days when it was looking like 10 days!!! and here is the difference between USA chaser tours and the UK groups most of us would rather see a weak storm with flashes and rumbles than nothing at-al, we have often gone to the Panhandles or the Caprock area to see if anything develops and often or not thats why we end up at the Big Texan when blocks are in place, another area which proved to be worth while last year was down in South West Texas where you can find the rare beast the slow moving or near stationary supercell  never thought I would get stuck hiding in a barn for so long while one of these things chucked ice at us for nearly an hour I hope we all have a great and safe season this year don't forget to fill in your ESTA if you didn't do one last year. Hope to see you guys in the Alley for another blinding Alcohol enriched evening. Cheers, Steve.
  21. Hi Tom, thats interesting cause I did one last year it says its valid for 2 years giving a 2011 expiry date but if you have to enter where you are staying on the first night then thats always gona be different ? ie we are stayiing in Decatur this year and last year Norman
  22. Hi guys Walkabout like Tom says for the insurance they even did me a go it alone policy some years back and the Esta form is 2 years the expiry date is on the form you did last year if you went :-) More news is that me Pete and our chum Simon have booked flights and our dates are set in stone MAY5th - May29th yahooooo! hotel "DAYS INN DECATUR" is booked as well, this year we really pushed the boat out and have gone for premium economy with BA and secured our seats £862 a seat !!! more overtime!
  23. A whole change of direction next year for us as we now think with Denys gone from next to our starting point in Norman Ok and NO KRISPY CREAM'S!!!!! its gona be a total waist of time and money to leave DFW and travel all that way, so on you guys recommendation we are going to make first night in Decata Tx and try out this steak place---is it "COW SHED" I cant remember also what would be a decent value hotel near to the steak place? we aint stayed in this town before. Cheers Steve Oh yeh, how far is it from DFW ???
  24. Well its still early but Myself and pete with our chum Simon from Holland have set the dates we are planning Thursday May 6th through to May 28th, not booking flights till maybe March hoping prices will go down a bit :-) but we will sure hook up with you lot have a blast like last year.
