Well this low cloud doesn't look like shifting anytime soon, so I wouldn't predict 17C-20C 'quite widely' as I am sure many others are currently experiencing this. How frustrating!!
-
What's going on with the met office five day forecast?! Apparently the next three days is full cloud cover with temperatures not exceeding 10c!! Really poor.
-
This whole 'mini event' i guess you would call it is such a mystery!!
Last night, we had weather09 calling for 20cm of snow according to the charts, and this morning Kold Weather again calling for 15cm plus in certain areas!
Now it seems like a bit of a non event, with either the PPN slipping down to Western wales or in fact the PPN being widely scattered but nothing disruptive at all.
Should I just forget about this and concentrate on my Uni work or is my position still a good place to see some snow?
Thanks
-
turned out to be agreat dumping here in stoke, easily 5cm if not more. bigger echoes in the radar heading here
Stoke always seem to do great!! A generic comment with no evidence, but still...
-
Lichfield on BBC News Channel!
What about it?
The snow here is still dissapointingly timid, think we're missing out on the heavier bursts.
-
Decent covering here, however there has been a lack of a 'wow factor' due to the size of the flakes..
Looking at the radar the heavier PPN is on its way pretty soon....... hopefully.
-
Slight increase in flake 'gurth' now.. If we can get the heavier PPN before the change to sleet and rain there might be some pictures to be had before its gone.
What a lovely negative frame of mind you're in today!!!!
-
Yet again both itv central and midlands today bottle their forecasts
-
Reports from back home that is snowing + sticking...
Where's back home?
And P.S you sig is spelt wrong!
-
Well, still waiting to see the first snow flake of winter......!
Even the Leicester snow shield has been broken and it looks like the streamer has slipped south now so that's my lot again haha
-
A case of 'as you were' with the 18z NMM, a trough runs through our region, mainly rain, with snow at elevation tomorrow morning, then cheshire gap streamer setting up saturday night/sunday morning, the timing if which looks better for more widespread snow to affected areas..
Perhaps a better chance for the southern Staffordshire/ Warwickshire folk to join in on the fun?
-
No offencemate, but I think you need to calm down and have somepatience. Alot of people including myself haven't swen anything wintry falling (I had a dusting over night) this year... like it says in my motto... The weather always pays it's debts.
No worries , I am calm mate. And I am aware of the fact that others haven't seen snow either, and when I speak, I speak on behalf of us South Staffordshire people haha
-
You can back up my claim of Leicester being the most snowless place in the Midlands then Rorkster
Absolutely Andy. I have managed to live locally in the second least snowy area, and then I pick a university where it's in fact even worse. I originally had the idea that Leicester would be a great spot for snow.. HA.
Last year I missed inches of the stuff that had occurred in Staffordshire whilst at leicester and then when I moved back to home for christmas Leicester got it bad
-
It's got so desperate now that i'd even take a snow shower, incredibly I'm still waiting to see the first snow of the winter and we're half way through december, Stoke has seen inches of snow, heavy precipitation and yet I haven't even seen a snow flake!!!???
I can't actually remember the last time I saw a heavy snow shower like the ones Stoke have seen today, every year I miss the actual showers as it's usually around 4am or I'm at university in leicester and we all know what Leicester is like.
CURSED.
-
Why on earth are all the showers dying out literally 10 miles from my area!!!!!!!!
-
sorry, my excitement has got the better of me
It's fine you lucky git!
Everytime a band seems to get towards south staffs it disintegrates into nothingness.
-
whiteout conditions in stoke. heavy snow! massive flakes:D
Stop rubbing it in!
-
Now there is blue sky? I think that my area is being passed by... Typical
-
Birmingham looks to be in a great position for this afternoon from that streamer, Leicester and Nottingham = Bad position. I've seen this happen way too many times before, Cheshire gap streamer plowing through Staffs and Birmingham and missing us.
Trust me it's nothing special, and yet I know that Birmingham, only 15 miles away will get dumped in snow.
-
It's not heavy enough at the minute to stick cause of the ground being wet! Maybe if the heavier stuff arrives. But to be honest just glad to see it falling.
Yeh its very light sleet here, quite pathetic really. But there is no reason why the heavier stuff cannot hit our area.
-
I would imagine so! Still snowing and skies to northwest look full of it!
Good to hear, theres definitely a legacy of cloud brewing up here! Is it sticking at all?
-
Well I'm sitting watching the skies here in cannock. And just started to snow :-)
It surely has to be close to me then?!
-
Hard to pin down where showers in this setup will appear.
Latest radar shows them coming further SE into Staffs and north of Birmingham
--all we can do is radar watch as the day goes on Rorky.
Yeh I guess so, thanks Phil.
I think they will hit my area but then again it will probably be sleet for me!!
-
Do you think this cheshire gap streamer oncoming will hit the birmingham/staffordshire area soon?

I apologise for my earlier pessimistic reply, as soon as I typed it, the cloud started to break up!
