  1. Yay! Some bright echoes with this one. Shame it isn’t due to last longer. Should be here within 15 mins or so
  2. A fairly fast moving but fairly heavy shower. Hoping it can hold together. Knocking on the door of Manchester now.
  3. Yes Manchester may see some snow over the next hour or so. Still very cold at the airport, -2C, with upper temps sufficiently low for now. There is a beefy shower approaching Wigan/Bolton.
  4. UKV now showing 80% chance of heavy snow at 4am, temp 1C. Manchester city centre. I'd laugh if we woke up to a covering of snow tomorrow morning!
  5. More snow possible tonight, but much more marginal as higher dewpoints are likely to push in. Rain for Greater Manchester, could be some snow for the hills/Peak District though. https://expert-images.images-weatheronline.com/daten/proficharts/web/en/euro4/2019/01/23/basis06/ukuk/prec/19012406_2306.gif https://expert-images.images-weatheronline.com/daten/proficharts/web/en/euro4/2019/01/23/basis06/ukuk/taup/19012406_2306.gif It is marginal, so snow possible but I'd be cautious and suggest rain.
  6. These showers are sooo slow moving. Somewhere is going to wake up to a surprise covering in the morning.
  7. Massive flakes here now. Coming down like feathers.
  8. South Manchester shower has really intensified! Don’t know why.
  9. Good stuff. Snowing moderately here too. Some big fluffy flakes.
  10. Is is snowing in Stretford/Sale or is the radar telling fibs? Some moderate echoes showing up.
  11. South Manchester about to get some moderate precipitation (according to the radar), has pepped up ever so slightly
  12. -1C/-2C here. I’m watching that blob just south of Preston.. can it make it?
  13. Well that went well ! Showers dying a death as they reach the coast, but we had another dusting. Skies now clearing and turning frosty.
  14. Manchester peeps - the line to watch is the stuff north of the IOM, into Galloway, and the incoming precipitation about to hit Fylde. If it holds together, it should reach Manchester, and deliver proper snow given temps are freezing or below. Fingers crossed.
  15. All depends what happens later. Last night's forecasts were heavy snow showers to push across Greater Manchester this evening, but UKV and Euro4 have backed off a bit from this and show snow being restricted to SW of the region. This change came about as late as this morning! Euro4 now shows this for 21z today for instance https://expert-images.images-weatheronline.com/daten/proficharts/web/en/euro4/2019/01/22/basis06/ukuk/prec/19012221_2206.gif and at 00z https://expert-images.images-weatheronline.com/daten/proficharts/web/en/euro4/2019/01/22/basis06/ukuk/prec/19012300_2206.gif Still very uncertain, but looking less good for Greater Manchester/Lancs, better for Cheshire, especially West of the county. Frustratingly, the temps/altitude isn't so much of an issue, it would be cold enough for snow in Manchester after dark, but I'm not sure if we're going to get the forecasted showers now. These situations are always fickle, and one person's gain means someone else misses out.
  16. Heavy snow in Manchester City Centre past 15 minutes. Looks great .
  17. Yes sleet is turning to snow in Manchester City Centre.
  18. You and your altitude ! UKV shows no precipitation whatsoever now after 5pm, it’s not altitude that looks to be the issue.
  19. UKV seems to have backed off on the latest update. I want my heavy snow symbols back! EURO4 still showing accumulations but less so than 12z yesterday. Will have to wait and see but less confident than I was yesterday. Right now here in low lying Withington it’s a sleety mix.
  20. It looks similar to Jan 2015 to me. MetO raw data and Euro4 were very much on the ball with it back then too.
  21. Hi all, long time no speak Just thought I’d pop in to say I haven’t seen the Euro4 look as good for snow in the NW for a long time, certainly more so than any point last winter. Either it’s suddenly started overdoing snow potential (accumulation), or we could be in for some surprises tomorrow evening.
  22. No it’s still -1C (DP -6C) at Manchester Airport. Still exceptionally cold really with a significant wind chill. Any melt is coming from the sun.
