  1. 10cms in wythall, would've had more as snow was quite heavy but took an age to start to settle, not till after 8pm did it start to accumulate. Had I not moved house and stayed in Heath Hayes I suspect I'd be looking at considerably more today, something akin to the amounts Staffordshire reported I suspect, anyone from hednesford/Heath Hayes way who can confirm amounts up there?

Brutally cold today also, temp showing as 0.0 currently in the car, coldest march day I can remember, and it's snowing again!

Im Norton we got 8-10" level snow and 2 drifts in the back garden of 15" & 20" there are drifts though over Chasewater up to 30' where snow has funnelled through gaps.

  2. Us in the midlands always have our most epic snow events when we have cold air in situ and the atlantic tries to push through and we end up sitting under the battleground.

The angle of attack is a bit different at present but same end result hopefully :-)

If this was January now we would be absolutely battered with snow but I suppose that as we are kicking into spring now that convection plays a bigger part than it would in January ?

Just rememberes I bought some snow bodyboards during the last cold spell...might have a trip up horseshoe pass again on Sunday :-P

Bloody hell Arnie....do you live in an airship mate lol

  3. I am indeed. Hope it's a good one in that respect.

Actually looks nice outside now. Everywhere is white and the snow is wrapping around tree branches. Picturesque.

CFS forecasts anotjer wet summer so get them southerlies importing them warm winds up from Spain and hopefully a good year. Would love to see an old school classic import like we used to get.

  4. Yeah, I think we get the point, no need to exaggerate. If you want to argue about adults acting like kids and getting so emotional over the weather, perhaps you'd be best placed in the MOD thread. You'll have your work cut out, though, as the ones who act like children... they're actually respected members of the community. Just one benefit of being in a clique.

But anyway... 1cm of snow here on pavements, so not too bad.

1cm..... Not bad seing as the clocks go forward very soon.

I only read the MOD thread as the backslapping and bareback riding in there annoys me to the point where I dont feel safe posting :-P

Bet your buzzing for the summer storms to kick in aint ya bud ?

  5. Hi all

Hahaha Parts of cannock are much higher. A pint of bitter jukebox or mild lol? ....

Here near Bescot....im guessing 2 inches or 5cm at most so far still light to moderate snow flakes maybe 3 to 6mm flakes at the moment. and this event is progged to last until late tomorrow so lets wait and see eh.

Nah mate was gonna just get hom an empty glass to wring the tears from his sleeves into :-P I cant believe that grown adults can be so emotional over the weather...seriously...can you imagine being locked in a room full of em crying cause Ian Ferguson said it would get to 20degrees and it only got to 18. I honestly dont get the end of the world attitude of some on here..kids yeah you can understand but adults ???????? Or is it just me getting sick of reading imby posts lol

Ps lashing it down again now :-/

  6. I do feel sorry for the people not getting snow...but don't forget it is March and snow is hard to forecast.

On a brighter not here in Brownhills we've had tonnes, its been snowing since 3pm, and well its becoming dangerous. Walsall Council has stated not to drive after 7pm as they will not be gritting as much. I've seen a snow plow and helped push 3 cars out of some of the deeper areas. More snow than at any time during the winter. And its still going. Brownhills is quite high up compared to some parts of Walsall, which has helped.

Easing up slightly in Norton now mate.

Still lots of time to go yet and some brighter echoes approaching though if thats your thing lol. Not much good for my hobbies of fishing and flying rc planes though :-)

  7. sorry if i have upset those on here who feel slightly uneasy at hearing people moaning about the lack of snow. interesting to note those that are mentioning the moaners are those that have the snow... and measuring it with their rulers as if to antagonise. just let us moan if we want to moan.... childish or not

You live anywhere near Cannock ?

If so Ill take you out for a mans drink and toughen you up a bit precious ;-):-P

  8. there is no need to split the 'haves and have nots' surely. we have a right to moan if we're not getting the snow surely. its great to hear those that are getting lots of the stuff but please feel sorry for those that aren't so lucky

Last time I looked it was a weather forum to discuss the weather and not a forum to throw rattles and toys about because the weather gods have not delivered your favoured weather....it gets boring as hell and its extremely childish and boring to read. ! ITS ONLY WEATHER surely youve got more important things in life like your health and family and loved ones to worry more about than some bloody frozen rain and cold mate ?

I love using this forum and reading the input of the guys on here but it gets frustrating at times with the childish comments..but I guess that is an unwanted addition to its success as a great weather site. Drop on some of the other weather forums and they are a lot more level headed and mature than this.

Anyway...on topic....... I cant find a ruler so measured the level depth on my car roof and its 1 and a half credit cards (longways) deep now with drifts upto about 8inches in places.

  9. It no that the weather is not going as they want, it s more that the professionals are risk forecasting

Mate the forecasters that people love to berate are just using data from billions of pounds worth of supercomputers. Who is REALLY at fault when a forecast goes wrong ?

Ive used weather forums for a long time and although I aint always participated in threads I have witnessed the likes of Ian Brown and Steve Murr have their pants pulled down and be wrong on a good few occasions. They will admit that and it is no different to the pros...these super computera full of algorithms and processing power are quite often wrong.

To put it into perspective grab a globe and have a look at how tiny this country is in the grand scheme of things ?

We have the met office that cater for our island and due to its positioning, size and location..surrounded by sea you can understand why they get it wrong at times......Its not the end of the world though and life goes on and there are more important things than the weather and if it snows...

Ps theres a good few inches of level snow where I live just outside Cannock now...feel free to come and take some home as I cant wait for the Summer now :-P

  10. Exacly why people are p!!sed off because the met office said it would intensify as the night went on . I can't complain for my area woke up to a few Cms this morning then a slight thaw then some heavy snow and now snizzle for the past 4 hours . It's just a shame that we have a good base and people are saying its weaking . Roll on spring now

I dont think ita fair to disect a forecast and say its wrong or crap yet as the event is forecast throughout the night. Last time I checked it was nearly 11pm and still loads of time left yet.

I love using this forum but why do people get so upset over the weather not going as they want.

At times this forum is one of the most childish on the net and worse than a thread for EMO,s who have worrying thoughts.....chill out people and see what happens.

  11. itv weather showed the snow mainly for the north east of our region, everywhere else was very quickly rain.

How the hell did you see this when Lucy Verasamy was presenting it ?

Every time I want to watch the weather and shes presenting it, I never actually look at the map just the warm fronts on the screen ;-):-P:-)
