  2. Think you might have a cache issue and picking up old versions, as all the GFS charts currently on Weatheronline (either via your URL or the normal one that 10123 posted) show nothing but rain from Friday onward - as you would expect given the temps etc the model is showing.

Okay if you do the following you will see and 10123. Go to google and type in precipitation type weatheronline and it will come up with this . click it and then go on the last gfs data not this one and it clearly showS!!wallbash.gif

  3. Mets already issued a warning for that - in the form of heavy rain - 15-25mm's. If that happens flooding will be widespread anywhere there is still snow. In many ways got to hope it falls as snow, as almost a foot of snow we could deal with, but flooding and then it freezing in the night would really break the country.

exactly who do you believe though! the amount of different forecasts and especailly the difference between itv n bbc is incredible!! bbc going for snow for us! meto different! gfs snow too, itv no.

  4. 3-4cm of new snow ovenight.- much wetter snow than we've been used to though.

Still caused traffic / bus mayhem and took missus 2 hrs in to central Leeds.mad.gif

Temp 0.9c and snowing lightly with occ moderate intensity.

Anyone agree the BBC / Meto got this badly wrong again ?

i agree strongly tht they have been shocking in the last few days! even paul hudson! And i like the fact very much last night tht rob mclwee admitted tht many experienced forecasters got it wrong!! stopped here. foggy n about 0/1c

  5. I find some of the comments on this regional thread and the model thread pretty amusing.

What we have this morning was correctly predicted about 5 days ago. The deep cold going and being replaced by +ve daytime temperatures, slight precip and that of sleet or at best wet snow, frost unlikely after late Saturday evening.

What have we got-precisely that-so why the consternation?

I've plotted outputs from Extra and NMM daily and its not done at all badly-it has failed to get the minimum values I've had but other than that its done okay.

I suggest a closer and more objective look at the models for some people and an acceptance that the various models will show slightly different end solutions. The trick is being objective and plotting a 'middle' path. That was there is less chance of thinking something is going to happen when the reality is its not going to.

thts not entirely true. today was 0- -1c tops 2mrw 2c but with added cover n they hadnt gone past then

  6. Well its my birthday today and i went to bed happy last night with my gf after watching the rob mclwee's forecast which was for snow becoming persistant tonight and a proper blizzard over the pennines. I got into bed and thought for once please can the forecast not be downgraded esp with it being my bday today but looks whts happened- the expected and with no sign of a thaw yesterday it now seems to be thawing qickly
