dont think the snow will push as far as forecasts predicting inland. would be nice to see a dusting however lol. Cant see anything significant in feb. Its just too early and doesnt happen like tht in the uk anymore at least not in england. Dnt get excited anymore because always get let down. WELL DONE RHINOS simply we are the best and cumon leeds tomorrow!!

Oh, I was talking about Saturday, you should have said Sunday
soz

Think you might have a cache issue and picking up old versions, as all the GFS charts currently on Weatheronline (either via your URL or the normal one that 10123 posted) show nothing but rain from Friday onward - as you would expect given the temps etc the model is showing.
http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/rart_frame.htm
Okay if you do the following you will see and 10123. Go to google and type in precipitation type weatheronline and it will come up with this . click it and then go on the last gfs data not this one and it clearly showS!!
-
Just looked at it and it shows rain from every run http://www.weatheron...ZOOM=0&ARCHIV=0
flippin heck whts this!
-
It never showed snow for Saturday
It did. go look. weatheronline precipitation type. Green dots 4 rain n blue stars for snow! its will show you a sequence of the last few runs
-
It was never looking like a knifes edge, it was always going to be rain, just a slim chance of snow.
Not according to paul hudson n thomas schavanaker matey
-
Where did you get that from? BBC latest?
GFS 12z has marked it down even colder - now max 2c for Saturday. This trend of the models keep making Saturday colder surely means its going to maybe be a nowcast event as to what exactly happens on Saturday.
no not the bbc but the lattest gfs! it showed snow sat and now shows snow sat! how cn it be even colder??
-
well someone was right. excitement gone. saturday looked good but was knife edge.now heavy rain sat
-
Oh dear, the front has reached here, but not snow, heavier freezing rain, the roof throughout the day has slowly been going white so I guess its not rain but its not snow, whatever it is, it's freezing on impact and coating everything in white. Current temp -0.9c, the front has caused temps to rise.
its nt feezing rain. its snow pellets
-
i thought i was too low ground for this light snow to settle!!!
cumon mate. its gona settle when we hav temps like thjis!! were in a freezer remember
-
Mets already issued a warning for that - in the form of heavy rain - 15-25mm's. If that happens flooding will be widespread anywhere there is still snow. In many ways got to hope it falls as snow, as almost a foot of snow we could deal with, but flooding and then it freezing in the night would really break the country.
exactly who do you believe though! the amount of different forecasts and especailly the difference between itv n bbc is incredible!! bbc going for snow for us! meto different! gfs snow too, itv no.
-
Cant believe tht no-one is talking about the potential we hav for saturday! bbc national and local are forecasting the potential for heavy snow sat!!
-
jst had moderate burst of small flakes! dusting on cars and rooftops where no snow !
Also people note tht the precipitation looks like drizzle veryt much so but its actually very small ice pellets
-
and here alwoodley north east leeds
-
Ths weather has been brilliant but not special like old winters gone by and sadly the models show very very mild weather on the way and that sadly looks like continuing! We are just too far west of tht block. so close but so far. Hope eveyone enjoyed wht we had.
-
3-4cm of new snow ovenight.- much wetter snow than we've been used to though.
Still caused traffic / bus mayhem and took missus 2 hrs in to central Leeds.
Temp 0.9c and snowing lightly with occ moderate intensity.
Anyone agree the BBC / Meto got this badly wrong again ?
i agree strongly tht they have been shocking in the last few days! even paul hudson! And i like the fact very much last night tht rob mclwee admitted tht many experienced forecasters got it wrong!! stopped here. foggy n about 0/1c
-
snowed all night here in north east leeds-alwoodley .added a few cm but the main roads are very bad round here!! jst a shame the mild /warm southerlies are on there way
-
snowing in nortyh east lleeds 150m but not settling
-
I find some of the comments on this regional thread and the model thread pretty amusing.
What we have this morning was correctly predicted about 5 days ago. The deep cold going and being replaced by +ve daytime temperatures, slight precip and that of sleet or at best wet snow, frost unlikely after late Saturday evening.
What have we got-precisely that-so why the consternation?
I've plotted outputs from Extra and NMM daily and its not done at all badly-it has failed to get the minimum values I've had but other than that its done okay.
I suggest a closer and more objective look at the models for some people and an acceptance that the various models will show slightly different end solutions. The trick is being objective and plotting a 'middle' path. That was there is less chance of thinking something is going to happen when the reality is its not going to.
thts not entirely true. today was 0- -1c tops 2mrw 2c but with added cover n they hadnt gone past then
-
Well its my birthday today and i went to bed happy last night with my gf after watching the rob mclwee's forecast which was for snow becoming persistant tonight and a proper blizzard over the pennines. I got into bed and thought for once please can the forecast not be downgraded esp with it being my bday today but looks whts happened- the expected and with no sign of a thaw yesterday it now seems to be thawing qickly
-
unbelievable again!! i could cry it infuriates me!! harrogate northwards heavy- south leeds southwards heavy and inbetween it becomes patchy light!!!!!!!!! well dun top all who hav it!!
-
So you're averaging 20-35cm of snow? Are you sure, Lewis reported 16cm of snow and a little less on the street, I fail to see how you have achieved over 20cm of snow.
this is wht annoys me yhough1 we did have more than them but they are likely to pass us easily frm the snow showers theyve just recieved recently!" however it will thaw quicker there!!
-
exactly mate (10123) we have missed just about everything this week! so unfair and if it wasnt for the other nite we would just have patches of ice and i think i would have definately been crying!! lol
