  1. May the dawn of the Winter Solstice chase the mild wet weather away. May the Winter Solstice bring to you the promise of endless snow days. May the frost of the Winter Solstice always freeze on you
  2. Well the models are a mess and the ensembles look more like colourful spaghetti - I think we will just have to be patient and see what Santa brings us but not holding out much hope for a white Christmas down south, possibly something more interesting to come for us between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve if not just enjoy the festivities and maybe January will be better is it too early to open the quality street & gin?
  3. John Hammond’s Week-Ahead QuickCast hints of festive weather returning in time for Christmas ️
  4. It was decorated a Gonk last year I can’t keep them alive, tried watering/not watering, warm place / cool place - they never last until Chrimbo never mind beyond
  5. It’s all turned into a wet windy slush fest here this afternoon (as expected), oh well it was nice while it lasted !
  6. 13 years later if I do I might never get up again Radar looked promising but nothing here yet and temps are on the rise already so not holding out too much hope for anything more than sloppy sleet
  7. This just came up on my timeline - 13 years ago today I made a snow angel No chance of a repeat performance today, the snow we’ve got is rock solid and won’t be around for much longer
  8. Happy Saturday…Last outing in the frozen landscape… for now anyway, not looking great for snow over the festive period unless your in Scotland, still hopeful for the next instalment of winter before 2023
  9. “Churning vortex” sounds more like a Dyson washing machine than weather related to me but it obviously sells newspapers so hey
  10. Warmed up here already it’s only -2 You know you’ve definitely got acclimatised to the cold weather when -2 feels less cold - by tomorrow I won’t need my thermal vest
  11. Less cold here tonight it’s only -5 So the "Troll from Trondheim" is going to be killed off by a “churning vortex” in the “nightmare before Christmas” this weekend accordingly to a certain weather journalist
  12. Looks good but tomato & basil soup, some cheesy chips and a lush hot chocolate was my menu for today !
  13. That’s where I feel like I’ve been today - no lion but there were some elephants - might not have been the most snow we’ve ever had but I don’t ever remember it freezing to the trees like this, almost looks fake like the flocked Christmas trees
  14. I’ll just be sad to see the snow melt, hopefully it’s not winters last shot but it would be nice to have it like this for the Christmas holidays, roads are clear so no distribution for those who have to travel but with time off to enjoy more walks it would be nice….I’ve been out for hours this afternoon
  15. My last day off before the thaw so made the most of it with a trip to Waddesdon, it’s been absolutely stunning and amazing to see so much snow cover still patchy fog and another cold night
  16. Another day of waking up to a Christmas card scene here, I was hopeful the mild blip would be just that and by the middle of next week we would be back in the freezer but that’s looking less likely now - at least the wildlife will have an easier time of it after the harshness of the last few days All good things come to an end, just too soon for me
  17. The snow is frozen so hard here now it’s crispy and makes a crunching noise when you walk on it, still very pretty though - this evening it was the annual Christmas streets visit to see all the lights That’s usually got more to do with the sprouts than the weather
  18. All white for a few more days here by the looks of it then maybe some transient snow Sunday Scrat and his furry (and feathered) friends are eating so many nuts I’m filling up the feeding stations daily, it’s very distracting watching them
  19. Not a snow angel today but paid a visit to the knife angel (who did have a snowy dusting) on my way home - wasn’t prepared for quite how emotional it would be especially talking to a victim’s father “The sculpture, made from over 100,000 seized blades, was specifically created to highlight the negative effects of violent behaviour whilst solidifying our critical need for social change. Not only does the Angel act as a catalyst for turning the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour, but it is also acts as a beautiful memorial designed to celebrate those lives who have been lost through these violent and thoughtless actions.” Anyway weather wise, no thaw here my road is quite crispy already - definitely an “ice ice baby” warning for tonight/tomorrow morning take care
  20. No where near as much snow in Northants as MK but very beautiful, main roads all good which just shows they were well gritted, I’m sure the crews will be out again but they don’t come down our road so probably be like Bambi on ice later
  21. Very pretty and we’ve had more than I thought, hopefully the main roads are better than mine I’ll find out shortly!
  22. Woke up to a winter wonderland, haven’t been outside yet but I’d say 2-3cm, looks nice powdery snow too so I’m happy with that ! Hopefully the main roads won’t be too bad either - stay safe everyone and enjoy your snow ️
  23. Started snowing in MK about 20 mins ago, looks like there is some heavier stuff to come so hopefully I’ll be waking up to a winter wonderland ️
