  1. It’s a shame you can’t see the whole European view on the UKMO on its 168 hour chart to see what any possible blocking would look like to our North-East. But the latest one shows a Westerly flow over the U.K. with Low Pressure to the North (likely with blustery showers over Western areas) and a cut off Low between the two High Pressure cells to the South-West in the Atlantic. The Low looks as though it would probably get caught up in the Jet and merge with the Low Pressure areas over Northern UK. Pretty much has the Atlantic breaking through, although the Westerly flow over the U.K. looks fairly cool with no blow-torch long drawn South-Westerly flow.
  2. Cheers! Edit: GFS 18Z definitely more promising compared to some previous runs with more disruption to Lows in the Atlantic
  3. I’m actually curious to know how the UKMO 168 hour chart can be accessed. Seen a few people use them in the last few weeks. Been looking on various sites, such as wunderground.com, with no luck ?
  4. Either be cold enough for snow next week (which, looking at the models currently, seems unlikely), otherwise any approaching fronts from the West next week can just go away!
  5. Almost feels like being transported back to Summer, lol. Saw some big bright flashes along with a downpour of rain and hail! Didn’t expect that at all!
  6. A very admirable Easterly for the UK on that 12Z GEM chart. The European Low and Icelandic High well positioned to drag cold wintry air Westwards! Edit: Sorry, just saw mulzy's post above. I should have clicked on that chart to see a bigger view of it to see whether it had been from the 12Z GEM run or not, lol (is from the 00Z GEM run as pointed out by one or two others)
  7. Only 58.5cm in Solihull according to your snow accumulation charts. I guess someone’s been burning bad tasting mince pies in this town too! Hoping for a significant upgrade on the 24Z kmanmxinator2000! 58.5cm is simply not good enough
  8. Good morning! ? Like to wish you all a warm Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Certainly been an interesting year of model watching! Do make sure you all behave yourselfs, ‘cos Santa is watching ?? Aside from the possibly of a wintry mix tomorrow tonight into Wednesday for some parts, particularly Central areas (as models show a Low moving through Southern UK), I think I know how a wintry wonderland with lots of blocking and white stuff could be achieved. All that needs to be done is for this to be solved, and none of the cold fans will ever become snow-starved ever again. I truly believe it will hold the magic power to transport us to the Snow Kingdom where all our snowy desires will be fulfilled. Winter 2017/18 will never be the same. Again ?
  9. Will go for 4.5*C please. I feel the first half of January will be invaded by the Atlantic and its pal, the Jet Stream. Then, towards the end of the month, I feel the Atlantic will become too tired and go for a snooze. Colder conditions developing from the East and North-East!
  10. Not sure if it’s just me, or that the ECMWF maybe has a habit of making Low Pressure systems a little too cut off/separate at times in FI! The chart at 192 hours from the 00Z run being an example. I know ECMWF can have a possible habit of over-doing amplification of the weather patterns at times, but I think I remember seeing similar charts like the above where the ECMWF had a habit of having too much separation between the Lows, particularly the stormy ones. The results being Lows that would end up being less separate and more organised.
  11. Temperature and dew points definitely dropping! Even if the precipitation does fall as sleet, that’ll still be better than plain old rain (lol)
  12. Some nice spells of sunshine now! Hopefully a chance of some snow later!
  13. Kinda shame it has to rain tonight as it could terminate some of the snow on the ground! (although seeing some front edge wintriness from the band isn’t unfeasible, but probably mostly for high ground) But I guess if we do indeed get some white stuff tomorrow night it could help restore damaged snow cover!
  14. Yeah, not that long now! ? Can’t believe it’s only 2 weeks till Christmas!
  15. Oh my gosh dude! I’m so sorry to hear about the lamppost! How horrible! ? It must be a really difficult time for you right now! But just remember, even if the lamppost doesn’t come back to life, it will always have a special place in your heart! A good lamppost that I’m sure was always there for you whenever it was snowing!
  16. Looking at the last few frames of the Netweather radar, the snow seems to have beefed up a bit over parts of the West Midlands! Edit: @Aaki Khanbeat me to it!
  17. Like a little blizzard here in Solihull. Some gusts of wind blowing the little things (flakes) about all over the place!
  18. Howdy A brand new Regional weather chat thread for you all in the North West to continue your chat of the weather and possible snow... if it gets far enough North Please keep this thread friendly, otherwise we may have to keep the North-West England snow shield in full power for the whole of Winter... Link to previous thread here:
  19. Sorry, will lock this up now. And I hope so, some of the snow shields in here could do with a pounding Edit: Link to new thread
  20. Keep playing back and forth the last few frames of the radar hoping to detect any possible more Easterly shift to the snow showers! ?
