Apologies Andy, it did stick for a bit there (the V4 was ok) all working properly again now though.

  2. That time of the year when the house next door blocks the sun from 95% of my garden :sorry:.

  3. That moment when you get home to find a digger in your neighbours garden has fallen, taken out a fence and left part of your garden damaged and covered in smashed glass!

      Dramatic!

Back in the days when tobacco advertising was legal on TV it would have been called a "Hamlet moment"! Now it might be called a "mindfulness moment". Sod that - just go mental!

  4. To illustrate how poor the winter was ; today's 6.3c maximum was only lowered on 8 days throughout November until today!

  5. 42 out of 61 days this winter have had double figure maxima!

  6. Not only the warmest December in the 12 years of my recording temps and 6 days with higher maxxes than any December days previously, also this December's average min temp was higher than October and November's!

  7. 6:45 ; Fascinating radar with 1 squall line split into 7 separate parts stretching SW-NE across 100s of miles at the front of the band of rain!

Didn't do a darn thing here

  8. Nearing 11 hours of rain on a day that was forecast to be mostly dry with a few light showers!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. In the space of 5 minutes I have had to restart my home hub to get the internet working, have had a nuisance call on my mobile and then another on the landline!

      They're coming for ya ;)

      Mapantz

I get about 10 cold calls a day. I have filled in 20 block spaces on the phone too. :/

  10. Has anybody else ever seen a double halo around the moon? We have had thickening Cirrus over the last hour and a short while ago I noticed a bright inner glowing halo, a gap and then an outer halo. Previously I have only ever seen either of those on their own.

    1. Dale Hay

      Dale Hay

I saw a double halo back in December or January when I popped to the shop. I thought it was my glasses, but took a pic on my phone and you can notice it slightly. It was a very clear night too. :)

  11. So many people saying they want a change and for there to be rain. Those wishes were occuring about 12 months go after a long dry spell and we ended up with that abhorrent damaging winter!

Nooo, I want snow in the winter, not rain. >:-(

If it ain't thunderin', it shouldn't be rainin'.

Last thing I want to see is rain. There's been more than enough of that this year including yet another vile weekend last week. What I want to see a change from is this disgusting cloudy high. Should have brought glorious weather but has just been dire.

    4. Evening thunder

      Evening thunder

I didn't complain at too much last winter. I'm really not bothered if we get a bit of rain. I'm not bothered if we don't either. But it is nice to see a hint of some more changeable/thundery activity, was starting to think I'd see basically no weather for the whole of September before going back to uni around the 21st

  12. Never underestimate how quickly a seemingly innocuous cloud can develop into a downpour!! I did!

  13. My neighbours who live half of the year in Spain are back. He is moaning that it's cold! It's 15c and has been sunny. I told him they should have been here from mid December until 2 weeks ago!!

All that heat is coming our way in April I can feel it in my bones.

    2. gottolovethisweather

      gottolovethisweather

You heard it here first, well no, in fact I suspect the Daily Excess has thrown the usual overstated heatwaves the like the globe has never witnessed type stories already.

  14. Disgusted at apparant 'human beings' stealing from other people's flooded homes.

Disgraceful how low some people will stoop.

      Nights King

Terrible but it could be worse I hear they still eat their young down on the levels. :-p

  15. Ridiculous winter! 664mm of rain, only 19 dry days of which 8 came in the opening 12 days of December!!

    1. Bishop Brennan

      Bishop Brennan

20 dry days here, the first ten of which came in the opening eleven days of Dec.

  16. Only the 11th dry day out of the last 71 days!!

  17. Just read a post in the MOD thread syaing all the rain is good after such a dry summer last year. Yes, the wettest 2 months since I began recording rainfall 8 years ago have happened successively, that's really good! Not!

    1. Bottesford

      Bottesford

Still at least the rain has fallen in the winter half of the year instead of focusing on summer like the past few years. Too much of it at once though of course.

Last summer wasn't even that dry. We had a few weeks in July with virtually no rain but then the heavens opened.

  18. Is pink anvil crawling lightning normal at 8am in January? Stunning storm this morning!

    3. wimblettben

      wimblettben

Yeah! it was interesting to watch and unusual weather to have so early in the year.

  19. Scilly at 12c, Cairngorm at -9.5c, which meas a 21.5c temp difference across the UK!!

    1. forecaster

      forecaster

Most of that difference is from elevation though. If you only considered sites at sea level, it wouldn't be anywhere near so impressive!

      Great stat, Andy.

  20. To the charity caller who just called at my house. Not the best way to promote your charity by swearing at me when I said "no thank you"!

These people really are a menace and actually discourage me from giving to charity, especially the chuggers you get harrassing you in the town centres.

    3. cheese

      cheese

Ditto. I give to a lot of charities every month, but walk by chuggers.

    4. Froze were the Days

      Froze were the Days

Quickly run after him with a shoe box attached with string and say "times are hard please give" - ruddy hell! not surprised there's a recession every Charity has got everybody's money!

  21. A rare occurence when out working today ; didn't need my hat, gloves, cap or sunglasses! Just dry and cloudy, not even bright.

  22. Quite remarkable at 20:15 on 23rd October that the temperature has just dipped into single figures for the first time since last Wednesday morning (16th Oct).

  23. Rare for frontal rain to begin while it's still warm, hazily sunny and with no lower level cloud in sight.

I'm surprised how heavy the rain has been considering how high the pressure is and the lack of different airmasses between the front.

The BBC are really having a bad June, opposite of the weather :)

Lol, try living near Heathrow, that can be annoying on thundery days

  25. If your postman regularly dropped a cigarette butt on your driveway would you complain? We keep our outside areas at home clean and tidy and never litter anywhere else so why should his habit induced littering be ignored!?

Are you 100% sure it's him? If so I'd just have a polite word the next time you see him. Complain "officially" if it continues.
