  1. Wonder where Jethro and Mullender are, it must be fun up the Mendips this morning! Precipitation arcing a few miles North of Warminster so dawning cloudy and chilly.
  2. Talk about chalk and cheese weekends. Yesterday's 3rd consecutive washout Saturday followed by (barring the midday showers last week) today being the 3rd consecutive sunny Sunday! Washing dry on an airer on the patio in 2 hours. By this time next week though the sun won't even shine there.
  3. And here it comes to set up yet another Saturday soaker! Just on the leading edge at the moment.
  4. Last night was the coldest for 7 months, scraping an air frost at -0.1c . The weak front passed over between 08.00-09.00 giving drizzle while the low sun still shone and a pretty rainbow occurred. Edit ; wintry risk at breakfast time!?
  5. Proper stair rod rain in the last hour. Going to be some flooding issues locally tonight with at least an hour more of it to come.
  6. Anvils have been visible to the South of Warminster pretty much all day. A few have moved overhead giving sharp showers as they continue to decay.
  7. That rain around midday was certainly strange, both in how it developed and in the lack of echoes on the radar. Nothing showed over my exact postcode on the Net Weather radar for 12.00, 12.05 or 12.10 yet it rained for over 10 minutes half of which was heavy. From the radar returns that did show it looks like a small trough or convergence zone developed/moved through. To balance my frustration from midday, the sky cleared straight after the rain and it was a lovely afternoon.
  8. Raining heavily in the middle of what was forecast to be a dry day! Completely fed up of this weather pattern.
  9. 136.5mm this month with more just starting to add to it by midnight! Here’s a stat ; this has been the wettest month since JANUARY 2016!!
  10. Have you just been on Points West regarding ghost hunting at Shepton prison?

Hi Andy, first time I’ve logged in all season! No it wasn’t me? I’ve not been working there as much due to my life completely changing this last year.

      How are you?

Yes ok ta. Sorry about that. They had 3 ladies talking about it and I remembered you posting about working there so thought there was a chance of being you. In another life (pun kind of intended) I would love to do ghost hunting.

It’s definitely worth it. Look up Haunted Happenings. That’s who I work for. It’s a laugh if nothing else happens.

  11. How far north is that rain going to edge by the morning then!? Thankfully it’s stayed away today allowing a much needed 3rd consecutive dry day.
  12. I nearly said earlier that I fancied Leicester given both teams current form, however the result is ridiculous!
  13. Sometimes though Mike the fronts can be far enough West and the wind Southerly enough to clear the sky and allow a few hours of warm sun. Sadly not today! That clearance should be perfectly timed for the carnival evening here in Warminster.
  14. What a waste of tropical air! Warmest day for a fortnight and it’s wet and windy!
  15. Not holding out much hope for Trowbridge being dry tomorrow morning. The current rain on the warm front is further West and heavier than any model I’ve viewed, all of which have it forming again east of Trowbridge in the morning. I need to be proved wrong!
  16. Very open field with short cut grass, my car thermometer was reading 4c which is likely to have been low enough for ground frost there.
  17. And here we go. I need to be working outside in Trowbridge on Thursday morning, the first day of half term. It has changed and rained or drizzled on the first day of EVERY school holiday this year and after 5 dry days Saturday through tomorrow this is now predicted! Priceless!
  18. Two consecutive dry days for the first time since 20th/21st September! 11.4c maximum, the coolest day since 14th April. Looking ahead through this week yes it’s certain to be drier, but lo and behold for the first school holiday outdoor work day on Thursday there is a dual frontal risk - warm front from the SE and cold front from the west. Surely it can’t happen to me for the 5th time this year!
  19. We’ve had our hot air balloon flight cancelled for the SIXTH time! Really thought it would be a goer this morning with calm dry conditions but they cancelled it late last evening due to forecast of low cloud and/or fog in the Bath area! Really gutting considering it is crystal clear in Warminster.
