  1. Knew I could trust the ECM LOL 63378818734__C4A9F679-BB91-4972-A0B1-8FB650C5C07B.MOV
  2. Started as soft pellets here but now turned to snow and starting to settle on some surfaces
  3. Sunday looking even better now! Let's get the dross of cold rain on Saturday out the way first lol
  4. Late Saturday afternoon still looks supportive of snow for low lying southern areas but by that point we’ll have had hours of rain and with surface temperatures still a few degrees above no accumulation likely
  5. I suppose one benefit of it being so marginal is that a lot of us might see some very big snowflakes for a while even if it doesn’t settle
  6. BBC are very honest and basically saying still not clear how far north it will go and the forecast will change a lot depending on this. Last weekend was unusual in it ending up further north than expected... seems like usually about 7 times out of ten it gets corrected southwards. Hope it does this time as looks very marginal.
  7. Interestingly ICON is showing some ‘follow on’ precipitation coming up the Bristol Channel so hopefully not just a two hour event as the main band seems to be rushing through very quickly
  8. One thing I’ve noticed about the system on Sunday is that while there is disagreement from the models on the north/south alignment one thing they seem to agree on is that it moves through pretty quickly
  9. Metoffice predictive radar has it all fizzling out over Powys and Ceredigion and then pretty dry tomorrow
  10. I hate to sound negative but don’t have any hope for the front coming down it looks like it’s going to fizzle out quite quickly. Probably dandruff or drizzle for most of us.
  11. Larger wet flakes here now. Not settling though. Ground is wet despite being frozen beforehand.
  12. Looks like there’s more precipitation about today and more intensity so it won’t just fizzle out over the mountains. Suspect a few areas will get a surprise covering but perhaps rain or sleet still around the coasts and low lying areas
  13. Will never forget 01/03/18 Storm Emma/Beast from the East. I was working for a home emergency company at the time taking phone calls from people having issues with boilers etc. Everyone's boilers started failing that day and every man and their dog starting phoning up. As I lived within a half hour walk of the office I offered to do a few hours overtime, and they offered in return to pay for a taxi for me to get home. The taxi got stuck in the snow and I spent ages helping to free it. The pavements were far too dangerously icy and I had to walk back home in the middle of the roads across Cardiff for about two hours in blizzard like conditions. Was quite surreal, it was the dry powdery type of snow but the drifts were incredible.
