    Yellow Warning of Ice for Wales

    Yellow Warning of Ice for Wales : Monmouthshire, Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhonnda Cynon Taff, Torfaen, Vale of Glamorgan, Neath Port Talbot, Powys, Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion & Swansea valid from 2000 Wed 17 Feb to 1000 Thu 18 Feb

    personally i think that between now (later today) and Friday are our best chances of any snowflakes falling. but I am a bit confused with METO temp forecasts showing temps as so high 7-9 degrees. as we speak winds are picking up. crossing everything. light rain at moment.

  3. From Model Output Discussions

    Consistently starting to be modelled across most models now is the threat of Weds rain to turn to sleet/snow towards the backedge of the front through Weds night and into Thursday, even across Central Southern England and into SE. Most likely to settle over elevation further north as Steve Murr alluded too with his cat & fiddle prediction.  Here is a look at the Weather Online charts view of the Precip through Weds and into Thurs.

  4. well it seems GFS has backtracked on itself now and is showing snow potential for east of Wales mid-week. Time to watch is from Wednesday night 0000 until 0600am Thursday. I would take it with a hint of caution as it may just end up as wet snow or very cold rain, but we cerrtainly are back in the running for a snow event.

    don't think so - i have a feeling that finally and i mean finally this next 7 days everyone somewhere in Wales will get there chance to see some snow

    yes I agree Andy its got to happen now. Reading the Model Output discussions as well its seeming more and more likely. For the Beeb to come out with such a stern statement (albeit according to Fergie its actually for the BBC 9.55pm Weather for week ahead) there must be very high confidence for this to actually happen.

  8. From Model Discussions (Steve Murr) this morning in last few moments:

    Quote

    'still the prospect of snow around this weekend -

    This needs to watched - i mentioned yesterday the deep low & energy dropping SE across to the continent -

    The GFS has somewhat backtracked towards this - however there would need to be some more corrections to get a snow event across the UK'

  9. guys hi this storm is tracking southeast correct - so its yet to really hit you? If so your in for a little bit of chaos. Its terrible here in Pontypridd today - the winds are frightening. In 33 minutes the fire service alone has attended many many incidents.

    Winds really are blowing a gale here and have been all night long. We've had sheets of rain. My neighbour is out trying to fix his fence in this. As fast as he drills it back into place it's back down again.

    not a good idea - just wait until the storm has passed through. Our carport roof got totally detached from the carport overnight and blew into middle of road (lucky it was 4am and no cars there) had to have fire service to come to retrieve as it. if things go wrong during the storm unless there is immedaite danger to life or property - leave it as it is LOL (not ranting at your Clair - your neighbour!!)

  11. Well if the worst is yet to come then I really hope there is a god.

    Been up watching the Superbowl and the wind gusts have been massive with very squally, heavy showers. So much to say the car port has become detached from its roof and ended up in middle of road. Trees and debris blowing onto A470 (location Upper Boat, Pontypridd). A470 been a buzz of activity with blue lights whizzing past every 20 minutes or so. Lets see what the morning brings (YIKES) ;{

    Western Power - Power outages UK wide as of 5:31am

    3545 properties without power - see attached for breakdown
