We do have the sunshine thankfully. I'll believe the February cold blast when I see it! No real cold at all since the beginning of December.

I don't mind heat but don't fancy anything like that, even 20c is too warm at midnight.

Didn't go below 25C in the end. Now it's already 31.7C at 10am.

You need to come to Dijon, AderynCoch! It's -2c already, dense freezing fog and an inversion making the pollution really bad. Not as bad as Paris, though, where it is the worst for 10 years...not looking forward to traversing the city on Saturday.

    4. AderynCoch

      AderynCoch

-2C was the max here. A heatwave on the cards this weekend unfortunately; it might reach 6C.

  9. Orange warning for 40-50cm of new snow for the district of Žilina until 10am Friday. Hope they're not just referring to the mountains...

  10. Why does a sunny day always magically turn cloudy whenever I step outside?

  11. If anyone's still up, here's a live webcast of the solar eclipse from Woleai Atoll in Micronesia. Totality starts about 1:38 British time:

Caught it just in time. Well done! Amazing video- goosebumps!!

    2. AderynCoch

      AderynCoch

There was a fair bit of cloud until about 10 minutes before totality. Looks like the cooling effect of the moon's shadow helped to dissipate it.

Woleai looks like a nice place.

  12. Maybe it's just the lack of exposure I've had since October but the sun in Seville feels strong even in January. Warmest 16C ever.

    1. Frost HoIIow

      Frost HoIIow

Not surprising given how far south Seville is - the sun strength now is the same as ours in March. They are like 2 months ahead in that department. Are you there for the Summer too because as you might know it can get absolutely roasting across inland Andalusia.

Fantastic place Seville, especially the old town.

I went there in July 2010. It is indeed scorchio.

  13. It's happened. It's actually happened.

  14. Another evening where I've had to close the window to stop shivering. This is getting ridiculous now.

For once I've got the window open with no breeze coming in. It's getting chilly out there but it's having no effect on indoors tonight.

That's amazing! Looks like currently, we are the windiest place on Earth!

  17. Sick to death of people saying we're heading for a repeat of last winter just because we're not in the freezer in November and parts of the US have snow. Do they not realise how unusual last winter was?

Not difficult to get a number of mild and snowless winters here. Early noughties, a few winters in the 90s, the early-mid 70s. Yes, not that difficult here.

Just seeing 15c on a late June forecast makes me cringe, no matter what airmass it is or if its sunny or raining.

  21. Not a bad evening here with the sun finally deciding to show itself. I'm making the most of it before tomorrow's misery.

It rained all day in London on Tuesday!

Nice. We used to get lots of fighter jets flying over in the days of the Iraq war, in east Leeds. They never went supersonnic though - surely that is illegal over populated areas. They're a rare sight nowadays. :-(

  24. Fog tonight. It's been a while.
