This morning was just a bonus, we wernt expecting the heavier stuff until around 6pm.

And then we get  more tomorrow morning before it potentially turns to rain by late afternoon / early evening

Then on Friday morning a final heavy burst to end the event

Where is the heavy stuff later coming from pal. Is this system going to stall pivot or what as it seems viewing radar that it's trundling north. Basically i ain't got a clue lol

Great capture. A good burst of snow you had from that shower.

Think that was the same shower I caught the Eastern edge of at Birmingham Airport earlier (just a few flakes blowing about, but nice to see all the same). That’s great some of you got to see a bit of white stuff this afternoon.

It may not be much, but it’s a start. Hopefully a sign of a snowy main course to come.

Most likely the same one as I'm also not far from the A45. Was just nice to see falling snow to be fair. Love seeing it fall but not to keen on the cold nowadays feeling it more now I'm heading for late 40s. But I'll happily take the cold if we get snow.

  3. I live on the top of the Isle of Portland in Dorset. It gets very windy here at the best of times our roof is already missing 2 ridge tiles and a tile still awaiting repair (private rental). I'm now getting a little worried about this coming off as severe as currently looks. I'll definitely be telling the Mrs to park away from the building as the last tile landed next to the car and I'm not to optimistic with the strength of the roof. It's already weak from said missing bits so the wind can get under it. Plus the property is south/south west facing with no real shelter.

Had to zoom off to work and back to pick something up, North of Dorchester. Great seeing the sky on the way back to the coast. Saw a couple of bright flashes and a big CG out to sea. Looks good.

Big drops of rain just starting to fall

I'm Tophill on Portland facing the channel seen quite a few flashes and almost constant rumbling thunder. It seems to be a lull at the moment. But can still hear rumbles in the distance.

  5. I'm on the top of Portland Dorset. And have a clear view of the channel from my sofa looking south/south east. If we get anything who knows but I'll definitely be chilling with the curtains open. The ironic thing is my home town Coventry has had loads of storms in the 2 years I've been here. I've had 2 or 3. And my mate always rubs it in by sending me video's lol. Good luck all it could be a bumpy ride

Maybe grasping at straws, but how far east is that front going to get?

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm in portland Dorset. I've been under snow and now sleet for over 3 hours. And not a drop has made it to the ground its all evaporated lol. I'm always checking the midlands thread as I'm from Coventry but moved here 2 years ago. And it's nice to see some of you have had snow this winter(jealous) lol.

I can imagine. It's a great vantage point during stormy weather. I'd quite like to be fishing down at Chesil right now.

It's the complete opposite here, breezy, with the occasional 30mph gust. It was windier during a shower this afternoon.

Have you had any flood sirens go off yet?

I've only lived here since April I'm up the top of island not heard anything but not sure if I would hear them up here. As for storms our flat has a nice sea view that last big storm was great me and the daughter just stood at the window with lights off. It was just a constant strobe.

  8. I've recently moved from Coventry to portland Dorset. My first thoughts when we moved was I'm bound to see loads of storms down on the south coast. But it now seems I'm on the wrong part of the coast lol. Obviously i know its more or less a bust around these parts. But on the bright side i can see out to sea from my sofa. So as summer goes on I've got a perfect veiw for storms if they happen. Anyway enjoy your storms for those that get them and stay safe.

The met office regional web site forecast are a joke

It shows for coventry a period of 4hrs of light snow from midnight thursday into friday and thats it were as bbc app shows snowfall from 6pm thursday to friday 11am

Take no notice of met and BBC symbols as there fully automated and have no human input. So will always chop and change. If it snows it snows if it don't it don't. But we all need to remember no model is necessarily 100% right. The snow could be north or south of predicted path. Radar will be best to use when the system is in view.
