  1. Spring tends to be cold up here. Sometimes the coldest time of the year, but there’s little enjoyment from a weather point of view, it’s just annoying. The nights get lighter with little to no accompanying increase in warmth. Exception recently was 2020, so I wouldn’t complain about something similar if I’m honest. Even a pleasant spell during March into April would be fine.
  2. Yeah Glasgow has been like that for about a fortnight it feels like. Only punctuated by rain and darkness.
  3. The Danish met office have named it Storm Otto. At least they’re taking it seriously even if the UK Met aren’t bothered about it…
  4. It rained in Glasgow yesterday for about 30 minutes. Most interesting thing that’s happened in about a fortnight.
  5. Not a guardian reader precisely because of this sort of nonsense. They had an article the other week about why, as plants are now thought to be quite intelligent, that perhaps we shouldn’t eat them. A paper for people with too much time to think and not enough time spent in the real world. There’s a reason why it’s popular with academics and humanities graduates.
  6. Ha! I guess it must be this boring mild weather making me think we’d be as well getting some nice spring sunshine. Might be my age as well, cannot really be bothered with dark and cold like I used to be! I also struggle with the way in which spring comes along and brings extra light but no great warmth. So any early warmth would be welcome, but I suppose I should be realistic and wait til about mid March!
  7. Think I’d sympathise with them here. There’s plenty of flak around if a warning doesn’t go out. Better to be discussing this than damage or injuries from a storm that people hadn’t prepared for because advance warning wasn’t given.
  8. Looks like snow or ice chances are minimal for the foreseeable which, to be honest, I’m pretty content with. Wouldn’t mind a mild end to winter or early spring. First signs of lighter evenings coming back now too.
  9. No snow here unsurprisingly. The snow that I thought was headed this way was gobbled up by the Arrochar Alps by the looks of it.
  10. Seems to be a line of snow showers heading towards Glasgow from the NW. let’s see if it makes it. Is Loch Lomond big enough to provide a bit of a lake effect?!
  11. Hmm…. My work seem to be preparing for extreme weather Sunday into Tuesday…
  12. Since late yesterday afternoon the weather has been absolutely foul here. We’re more than used to rain here but this is pretty dire. Felt like this almost solidly since just before the new year.
  13. Some snow in the ground here but is raining. Reckon that’s it for the Glasgow area now. On the plus side all those with blocked up plumbing might get some respite.
  14. Do we think the breakdown is coming this weekend then? What about some decent snowfall beforehand (I’m out the country until midweek so a bit oblivious to any snowfall that may have happened since yesterday).
  15. The hyperbole surrounding this spell of weather has been off the scale. My concern is if we do get genuinely frigid temperatures that it gets attributed to climate change and described as unprecedented, when in reality it’s just a once or twice a decade event.
  16. Thought I could see a planet close to the moon this morning. Was quite a sight. Just very cold and crisp in Glasgow. Can’t see us joining the snow action but we can hope.
  17. Is this precipitation out in the North Sea likely to come in land? Looking at the radar just now it seems a long way off.
