Incredibly dull overcast day. Almost dark out there. Beyond a joke now.

Woke up with snow yesterday morning, today is a tropical 13c and it feels warm out there. Quite a turn around. The warmth feels quite nice.

We’ve had snow here too. Similar to elsewhere, quite slushy. We’re at sea level so quite a surprise.

Just saw that rain warning. Shocked I tell you.

This is starting to get quite trying now. Any sign of a pattern change on the horizon? A few consecutive days of sunshine with minimal cloud would be great. Doesn’t even have to be warm.

Spring always provides a period or periods like this. Bitterly cold north winds and a serious lack of warmth despite the strengthening sun which is higher in the sky - not that we necessarily see much of it. Every year I get annoyed by it even though I should fully expect it.

A lot of these posts about being wet and lacking sun is what we refer to as ‘normality’.
You have our thoughts and prayers, wishing you a return to your own version of normality soon.
Our deepest sympathies,
Western Scotland.

First hints of spring breaking through here in weather terms. Sun is a bit higher in the sky and has a bit of strength about it now. Still wary of some cold snaps so don’t want to put the big coat away too soon.

Yep definitely thunder, heard another rumble there.

After all that above, it’s now lashing with rain and I’m pretty sure I just heard thunder in the distance.

March tends to be a tough month weather wise, a big month of nothingness. It’s neither warm nor cold, dark nor bright. It just sort of floats around not providing anything.

Went past the Lecht during the week, I’m not a skier but I have to say it was all very sad to witness. Everything completely shut and not a soul around. Aviemore very quiet too.
I wouldn’t mind us having mild weather if meant those guys got a pasting. As for actual weather here, as others have said, very dreary and grey. Not good for the soul.

A few random flakes blowing around here, quite interesting how the radar precipitation type changes so consistency over water.

Ingunn or her straggling remnants are a bit of a nuisance here.
seems like it’ll be bad in parts of Norway tonight/tomorrow, hope they take care up there.

Already flooding in Inverclyde, we’ve had relentless rain here all morning which has just stopped. Wind is picking up a little now.

Rain has been relentless here all morning, flooding now being reported. Seems to happen every few weeks here.

Was pretty wild here around midnight, much calmer now.

Wind wasn’t too bad here up until about half an hour ago, but gusts have suddenly ramped right up.
Roaring outside could be the wind or the sea.

Wild what just went through was like a wave machine throwing water in your face for a few minutes
I had to drive home through that. Was pretty fun*
*terrifying.

I took a few locations, Newquay, Blackpool, Newcastle and Inverness.
They either equaled or were below progged highest gusts for Hastings.
GFS/ met office.
Semantics now really, the real interest in terms of severity is the ECM solution which shows some really noteworthy impacts around a tighter core toward NW Scotland at 90mph +.
Impacts over England inland due largely to the prolonged nature of gusts in excess of 60mph.
Coastal Southern Britain as it stands see gusts toward 70mph, not that noteworthy, these seen three or four times in a Zonal Winter ( again the prolonged nature of these gusts is more unusual)
Hitting 80mph as suggested on the SE coast amber, a once every two or three years snenario.
Inverness is quite a long way from the Glasgow area. It may well have lower gusts, probably because it will be sheltered by the western highlands and the Cairngorms to an extent.
Remember, Scotlands population may be smaller, but it’s 1/3 of the landmass of Great Britain, so in this context is fairly big.

How come I’m seeing some people saying severe winds for England and Wales with some impact on Western Scotland, and others saying much greater impact on western Scotland?
Is the track that uncertain?

Looking out for any more info on storm Isha tomorrow, seems a bit concerning.

Northernlights agreed. The northerly wind here feels as cold as anything midwinter would produce. The high is desperately needed.
