  1. A late winter scene in Essington! Sudden stratospheric warming did manage to impact slightly during March with snowfall and it's impacts across the West Midlands.
  2. What a beautiful cat. Rest in the knowledge you gave him a happy and long life, looking at the pic he was a character. I've had a few cats, they've come and gone. I have two cats now and they have helped me through some hard times, divorce, eviction. When the time is right maybe consider another mog, plenty out there looking for a loving home. And I appreciate the sentiment of enjoying your pets whilst they are with you. It's so true. You take care of yourself and keep posting that weather content.
  3. Extremely warm now in Wolverhampton, even under shade it feels uncomfortable. Have noticed some showers dotted around the Midlands on rain radar. I wonder if any precipitation is reaching the ground or gobbled up by evaporation from the extreme heat...
  4. Here in Wolverhampton we have blue skies and a hint of breeze. Temperature already at 20C before 10AM.
  5. Crazy little pulse storm that did it's upmost to evade me on the 25th June 2022. Just out of reach but to my advantage as I was able to photograph it's structure before it moved off over Staffordshire weakening as it did so.
  6. Good afternoon everyone and I am pleased to be a member of the Midlands forum. Good to get a local perspective on weather events that effect our region. No dramatic heat as yet here in Wolverhampton but should the high cloud disperse then I can imagine the mercury rising with an uncomfortable amounts of humidity. The breakdown on Wednesday, how does that pan out? With a bang or a fizzle?
  7. Dark based cumulus develop over Chasewater, in Norton Canes, West Midlands today as April showers again develop in optimum conditions.

  8. Ominous skies in the heart of the Black Country today. This taken over the M5 looking North-West.

  9. Impressive development of springtime April showers today over the West Midlands.

  10. Another picture of an impressive shower cloud that developed over the West Midlands today. Not a funnel, just skud unfortunately.

  11. An impressive shower cloud taken in 2019 (when you were allowed to be out and about). I was hoping to see some electrical activity in what looked like a textbook thunderhead but alas nothing. Still an impressive structure to end the day in April.

  12. I think the best bet is to keep an eye on real time radar to see where storms are located and developing to have a realistic chance of pin pointing convective activity. As we are all aware thunderstorms by their nature can be very (and frustratingly) localised. But half the fun is the predicting of them I suppose :-)
  13. A little rain this afternoon with a few rumbles of thunder. Plenty of nice convective clouds about showing up nicely against clear blue sky. Whilst this convection looked promising it was a good distance off and with not much wind generally stayed at a distance. Radar demonstrated this well as cells generally built and decayed in the same location. Cooler now as CF has moved through. Thats it now until the next "heat wave".
