  1. My small tree in the front has started blossoming already, im looking forward to spring now and seeing everything going into blossom and green again if we won't get snow down here. Saying that March the last several years is the only time on the coast I've had any laying snow, not winter itself so see if this year it happens again!
  2. I very much have resigned to the fact this may be a snowless winter for me on the south coast in terms of laying snow. Hopefully a miracle can happen and it can correct 100 miles or so further south and stall, keeping us in cold enough air
  3. Had a max gust of 22.8mph, my street was very sheltered from the sw wind last night.
  4. Poped my head out the back door and can hear the wind roaring away probably towards Barry Island but oddly barely a breeze by me still, I had expected to be getting some strong winds by now.
  5. I'd say so, whilst the wind speeds are not exceptional for a winter storm (though don't get me wrong still very strong and capable of causing damage) I'd say the duration of the winds is more unusual and what could cause more damage from trees, structures etc getting a more prolonged battering and weakening risking damage and disruption.
  6. Nothing major here still, can here the wind picking up outside but the garden is very sheltered from current wind direction so not recorded more than 14.8mph lol.
  7. Nothing of note yet in Barry, id expect that if we see gusts of 60-70mph then my sheltered location would get 40-55mph (which are still strong enough) normally 15-20mph less than the rest of Barry which I am thankful of in these situations. I love a good windstorm as I love most weather but they do make me nervous. Will be interesting to see how the evening progresses.

It sends a signal every 16seconds so dose miss some wind gusts but its a good system that im very pleased with for a reasonable price.
  9. Currently -4.5C making it our coldest night. Im actually looking forward to a bit of a warm up and having the heating on less.
  10. Had a high of 5.5C today, warmer than anything we had last week. Whilst nothing special it has been nice to have the seasonal and dry weather just ashame about no snowy breakdown. I would have happily taken a few hours of heavy settling snow turing to rain or melting rapidly if it meant getting some lol.
  11. I hope that storm for the weekend doesn't happen, its bad enough not getting the snow this week when it could have been so good but 80-90mph winds is pretty scary!
  12. Well a few days ago it was forecast to be 6C today its currently 1.8C with aforecast high of 4C. I do think the models are not handling this well and there will be some surprises as the week goes on.
  13. For now im going to keep my expectations low for snowfall here. Northerly winds are no good for my location and the low looks going to far south. It will be a real shame to have this cold weather without snow but it seems like that is most likely for SE Wales. Still chance for change over next few days though.
  14. Yes unfortunately it does look like if it happens it will all be for nothing in the sense it soon gets washed away. Fingers crossed it corrects south closer to the time with the cold holding stronger than predicted, so we can get a deep snowfall with a stalling front and then the cold to keep it around lol.
  15. Getting grapel mixed with the snow in heavier bursts giving the cars and roofs a light dusting but melting on roads/pavements. Well its not been much but im so snow starved its been so nice to see snow falling. Be off to bed soon though ready for my 4:15am alarm
  16. Going by the radar some brighter echos coming way, keep getting some heavier bursts now giving a sugar coating on the cars lol
  17. Snowing lightly here now, lovely to see! Snapchat-431104184.mp4 20240108_184652.mp4 Unfortunately too light and with temps of 2.4C its just melting as it hits the ground.
  18. Notice on the Radar that the precip seems to have pepped up a bit as its going over the channel?
  19. Had some snow grains as I left work in Llantrisant. Here it Barry its 3C with a dp og -2.3C, be nice for the temp to drop a bit before any precip arrives but thicker clouds now coming over, so hopefully see a bit of light snowfall somepoint thisevening!
  20. Winds really picked up at work in Llantrisant, trees swaying like mad. How long are the winds suppose to last, are they moving through quick or we looking at a few hours of this?
  21. Well its certainly been a wet one recently and another one today supposedly. Hopefully we can get some cold and dry weather to dry the ground out a bit before then getting some good snowfalls, even at sea level through mid/late Jan, is that to much to ask for?
  22. Temp up to 0.6C now and DP 0.4C so going just the wrong side of marginal, expect it to keep rising now until the cold rain gets here. Been an impressive day for cold so early in the season though!
