  1. Temps now up to the March average for the time of year, the sun gaining strength and the predictions of a white Easter have gone t*ts up. I think its time to rename the discussion.
  2. Temps now nothing special, now around average. but to see 10 days of dry weather coming up is certainly a pleasant sight
  3. Temps look to be nearer 9-13c through the weekend and into next week as the high has just nudged into a slightly cooler position that what was indicated yesterday. More of a chilly feed of air from the east mixing with milder air coming over the top of the high. Still warm enough to kickstart the lovely Spring growth though.
  4. I used to love flicking onto Ceefax as a kid to see when the first sun indexes of 2 would appear, and watching the numbers increase as we got further towards Summer. Despite my love of all things summer I always ensure I'm well covered in sun lotion as I'm quite fair skinned.
  5. I'm well aware there is still the possibility of something colder returning for the run up to easter but in the meantime the GFS12z is painting a lovely picture of settled and even warm conditions developing through this weekend and persisting into next week. Temps pushing into the mid teens and remaining warmest for longest in sheltered western areas. As mild as this winter has been, we have lacked some pleasant settled weather so something like the gfs would be most welcome.
  6. Whilst cloud cover and potential frost and fog are still possibilities it does look like the main talking point will be the start of a generally drier and settled period, one that weve not seen for a very long time. At times such as this though, I will always remember the high pressure spell of early March 2012 which failed to deliver the warmth that was promised with hp centred too much over the UK. The end of the month made up for it though.
  7. Its felt bitter out there today in that raw harsh northerly which cuts right through you. It was only after a brisk 15minute walk across town did I warm up enough for it to feel comfortable. Temps next weekend of 12/13c will be far more pleasant and hardly too warm/humid even for the most rampant cold lovers.
  8. Some great looking Spring charts have brought me out the woodwork for another year. Just like with widespread snow, a lot had to fall into place for such charts to verify but at the moment next weekend could be very nice.
  9. Ill just be pleased to get into double figures, never mind 20c. Its felt raw today when the sun went in.
  10. But still only 3 weeks till clocks go forward. Half 7 sunsets or later for 5 months thereafter.
  11. Finally its time for Spring!! The dark times are over for another year and its time for some warmth, sunshine and April showers.
  12. Was very happy with this winter. Remarkable mild temperatures in December and a cold high pressure set up recently delivering plenty of increasingly strong sunshine.
  13. It looks like temperatures will recover a tad going into the next week but it looks like we will be always prone to northerly outbreaks through into early March. Id much prefer above average temperatures in late April and May anyway. It seems ages since we had anything decent and long lasting in May so I'm hoping this is the year.
  14. I'm hoping the annoying dregs of winter can move on pretty quickly before they eat too much into Spring proper.
  15. Much noticeable improvement in light levels compared to mid Winter. But these are the days that can be deceptively cold with bright sunshine but cold winds. April 2013 springs to mind with sparking strong sunshine contrasting with the raw easterly winds of the first 10 days.
  16. GFS 12Z in FI. Yes please!! Mild dry and hopefully sunny.
  17. Low pressure crashing into the UK for the forseeable. When will the weather gods give us a break i wonder.
  18. Patiently awaiting the first southerly waft of warm air to appear in FI.
  19. The daffs are out here and some roadside hedgerows are already developing a green tint of unfurling leaves. And its only January!!
  20. It maybe because we have been rather sun starved lately, but the light today did have a slightly brighter look to it around midday indicating the lengthening days and the rising sun. Over a month since the shortest day now.
  21. Hopefully the focus of the dry and pleasantly warm weather will be more at the business end of Spring rather than at the start. There is no such thing as using up our quota of nice weather but there does seem to have been a tendency for Springs to become increasingly unsettled towards the end lately.
  22. Really starting to gather pace now with 2 mins extra daylight per day on an evening. Still nowhere near good enough though.
  23. So even with cooler conditions than of late its still going to be comfortably above average for the first 3rd of the month. The models at face value dont look that mild but i guess its because we are in the absolute depths of winter so i guess one would expect the odd frost by now, and the average would reflect that. Still i am surprised by how above average the coming week will be!
  24. I love to see the rising sun casting ever shorter shadows on the lawn as the days progress. Regardless of the actual weather conditions the changes in light levels are a welcome reminder that Spring is approaching.
  25. Theres more to life than sleeping I like a good nights sleep but id much prefer to get back doing active things on an evening rather than just sat idle.
