  1. Something that hasnt happened really all Spring. A pleasant southerly developing with high pressure setting up residence over Europe, which is often a promising sign for the UK. Feeling milder for all next week with temperatures back into double figures and a much more typical outlook for the time of year :D

He's predicted prodomatly mild with Westerlies with a lack of blocking patterns, pretty much what we've had. Now we are getting this cold snap end of April beginning of May. Just like he predicted. This should prove to people who doubt his forecasting capabilities that he is one of Net weathers best forecasters!!

Thankyou very much for that. I will await his future predictions with interest.

I have a N facing bedroom and that can be bad enough in high summer. On hot, humid days you can be waking up in a pool of your own sweat. Hate spells like that in summer but each to their own I suppose!

I'm soon to be moving from a downstairs westerly facing bedroom which cools off nicely at night to a SE facing upstairs bedroom. Sultry nights when trying to sleep aren't my cup of tea either but I love being outside on such nights.

Totally agree, colder weather is so much more useable and refreshing, hate those vile summer months waking up to 18plus degress c at 4am with the light streaming in your window, very very unpleasant.

Maybe its more usable for you but im sure a trip to the beach of the local park next week will confirm that the majority of the population would prefer warm and sunny for getting out and about. Cool northerlies and showers hardly get me jumping in the car and heading off for a day out.

Personally where a 10-11 may show 13-15 maybe achievable and in any sun that will feel pleasant out of the wind :)

    Time will tell!

Even in the northerly air stream there are pockets of less cold uppers which spread south during next week so the potential is there for some calmer, less cold days where it should feel fairly pleasant. That is before the winds turn round to a milder westerly direction at the end of the week.

32.5C on August 31st 2005? Those two summers were quite different with 2005 producing hot spells in all three months, and all months being pretty dry. From memory only a period mid June, the last week of July and penultimate week of August were naff in terms of weather.

Summer 2005 was probably one of the most varied summers I can remember with periods of very cool and wet weather balanced out by some lovely summery conditions. A fantastic hot spell in June too.

  7. Looking like an improving picture from Sunday through to Thursday with the hint of something very warm getting close to southern England. Hopefully after that we will see everything shift eastwards and the cold northerly will get shunted out of the way, or at least only last a few days before milder Atlantic air pushes in.

  8. I really could do without the misery of a summer like 2012 or 2007. Im moving into my first house in a few weeks and a nice summer would do just fine to get all the garden jobs sorted out, then being able to sit back and enjoy some warm weather. A decent slightly above average summer will do me. Anything spectacular is a bonus.

  9. Well its that time of year again when many peoples thoughts must be turning towards what Summer has in store for us this year. After a reminder what a proper summer should be like (2013) Summer has deteriorated in recent years with last year being hardly anything to write home about. So what will this year bring?

Are you kidding me? The trees have taken ages to get going this year - well behind on last year and previous years. The mild winter has done nothing to kick-start spring growth.

The daffs were very early round here and that's got to be thanks to the mild winter. The unfurling of leaves and the tulips do seem to be behind last year though as the progression of Spring growth has slowed since it turned cooler late February.

agree there, been decent here though, light winds sunnyish, tomorrow okay as well, then after bleeurgh

I often judge the recent conditions by how full the bird bath is and its pretty full now. Some dry weather looks in the offing next week though so hopefully it remains that way.
