  1. Really hope the modelled warm southeasterlies come into fruition for mid May, a time when we can eaily get low to mid 20s from such a wind direction.
  2. And on into FI the GFS inproves further with an early taste of Summer
  3. Something that hasnt happened really all Spring. A pleasant southerly developing with high pressure setting up residence over Europe, which is often a promising sign for the UK. Feeling milder for all next week with temperatures back into double figures and a much more typical outlook for the time of year
  4. Good signals emerging for a possible southeasterly to develop later on. Very much like May 2008.
  5. Blimey!! Is the Azores high actually going to win for once and build NE?
  6. Indeed SS. Its a relief to see the cold air gradually dispersing and temperatures returning to more seasonal values to start May.
  7. Once again on the GFS high pressure building from the SW. Usually on these occasions you would get cool winds coming over the top of the high but not so much on this occasion.
  8. The GFS 12z brings more settled conditions in during the first few days of May. Temperatures in no great shape but least there is no pool of cold air to the north so no plunge of cold air on this occasion. Fingerst crossed may will produce something warmer, it cant be difficult.
  9. Thankyou very much for that. I will await his future predictions with interest.
  10. This Spring is fast becoming a non-event. Very boring indeed. I hope May salvages something otherwise Spring 2016 will be very forgettable.
  11. Kudos to Ian even though its a very uninspiring week coming up. Out of interest did Ian predict the incredibly mild December? I don't recall seeing his winter prediction.
  12. I'm soon to be moving from a downstairs westerly facing bedroom which cools off nicely at night to a SE facing upstairs bedroom. Sultry nights when trying to sleep aren't my cup of tea either but I love being outside on such nights.
  13. Maybe its more usable for you but im sure a trip to the beach of the local park next week will confirm that the majority of the population would prefer warm and sunny for getting out and about. Cool northerlies and showers hardly get me jumping in the car and heading off for a day out.
  14. Even in the northerly air stream there are pockets of less cold uppers which spread south during next week so the potential is there for some calmer, less cold days where it should feel fairly pleasant. That is before the winds turn round to a milder westerly direction at the end of the week.
  15. Summer 2005 was probably one of the most varied summers I can remember with periods of very cool and wet weather balanced out by some lovely summery conditions. A fantastic hot spell in June too.
  16. I look back in time and see quite a few examples of cold northerlies in Spring replaced by a warm spell with low pressure transferring to the west of the UK drawing up some nice warmth. Heres hoping it will happen this time too. Not a bad week to come but next weekend looks totally out of place in late April.
  17. Looking like an improving picture from Sunday through to Thursday with the hint of something very warm getting close to southern England. Hopefully after that we will see everything shift eastwards and the cold northerly will get shunted out of the way, or at least only last a few days before milder Atlantic air pushes in.
  18. I really could do without the misery of a summer like 2012 or 2007. Im moving into my first house in a few weeks and a nice summer would do just fine to get all the garden jobs sorted out, then being able to sit back and enjoy some warm weather. A decent slightly above average summer will do me. Anything spectacular is a bonus.
  19. Well its that time of year again when many peoples thoughts must be turning towards what Summer has in store for us this year. After a reminder what a proper summer should be like (2013) Summer has deteriorated in recent years with last year being hardly anything to write home about. So what will this year bring?
  20. Well this is certainly an improvement over what was shown yesterday. Light winds and fairly pleasant with the southerly lasting long enough to bring some warmer air into the mix. Yesterday ECM 0z
  21. The daffs were very early round here and that's got to be thanks to the mild winter. The unfurling of leaves and the tulips do seem to be behind last year though as the progression of Spring growth has slowed since it turned cooler late February.
  22. I often judge the recent conditions by how full the bird bath is and its pretty full now. Some dry weather looks in the offing next week though so hopefully it remains that way.
  23. About time that some parts saw some decent Spring warmth. Its been a slow start to the season. Im thankful for the mild winter to give nature a head start otherwise the countryside would be looking rather bare.
  24. Becoming fine and settled at day 10 according to the ECM 12z mean although with an easterly wind blowing it would be rather chilly on eastern coastal areas but becoming warm in the sheltered SW.
  25. Following a rather unsettled week it looks like odds in favour of an easterly developing, whether its a warm or cold one is still very much up in the air. The control run sends a lovely plume northwards in FI
