  1. The bad thing is we dont know really how poor a summer month can be when you consider how far you have to go back for a truly dire June, July or August. But anyway, im positive for this year that it will be another pretty average one which means a good amount of dry and usable weather. I nice heatwave would suit me just fine too
  2. Very noticeable how mild it was today and it was a much more typical April day of sunshine and showers, though it was more bright than sunny. Least there is some interest to be gained from these convective sort of days. More than can be said for the broad rain bands that have affected us recently.
  3. If it were dry and warm now we would be getting those saying we were using up all the nice days now and were destined for a poor summer. Luckily no one knows what this year will bring.
  4. I laid some turf yesterday so its getting a good soak. But apart from that the incessant rain can do one! In my opinion its been the worst start to the year in an awful long time. Even the cold spells were accompanied by persistent gale force winds and grey skies totally unlike other years. Im really hoping these signs of something slightly more settled materialise.
  5. Which makes the outlook all the more pleasing. Temperatures could hit the low 20s across large parts of Europe towards the end of the week. More like mid teens for us but after the dreadful March im not complaining.
  6. Yes SS. It Certainly stirred some interest from me when i saw the 6z roll out. Says a lot about the past month when im getting excited by what is still a fairly unsettled outlook. But those temps would definately get those spring plants flowering.
  7. I guess we were due a spring like this sooner or later. The southerly tracking lows and arctic air have been as relentless as the warmth was during 2011 and 2007. But there are continued signs for a long awaited change to a more mobile westerly pattern from around the 7th April.
  8. Dont know about anyone else but the recent cold spell totally diverted my mind from the lengthening days, probably as the last 4/5 days have been so cloudy round here. Its also made me feel we were back in the depths of January rather than the first few days of Spring. Unfortunately it doesnt look like a quick transformatiom to dry and sunny which would really make me appreciate the lighter evenings.
  9. A nice springlike weekend coming up by the looks of it and extending into the first bit of next week too. Double figure temps and light winds should feel pleasant enough for the time of year.
  10. Yes its a welcome sight SS! Brighter times round the corner
  11. Still hovering around 24c here! Not that often we get hot days with an absence of any sea breeze whatsoever
  12. Im not complaining about June here, and to be fair if you go further back into the last 3rd of may you could say the last 3 weeks have been pretty decent. Some may beg to differ but the ground aint sodden and the coat is firmly consigned to the cupboard, unlike some other early Junes.
  13. Fantastic ecm 0z. Similar charts to the famous Feb 98. Even just getting into double digits would suit me.
  14. My mind is very much turning to Spring now, especially as we have yet another cold cloudy easterly to contend with. Next month the clocks go forwards and we are well and truly in light evening territory even though temperatures don't always respond accordingly. Hoping for a very sunny and reasonably warm one this year.
  15. out and about pottering in the garden until half 4. not something that I could do a few weeks ago. can't wait till I can be out until half 9!
  16. A slow burner of a Summer this year starting off in worrying fashion with copious amounts of rainfall. But from mid July onwards it really did improve with some nice hot days thrown in for good measure. I'd stop short of saying I'd welcome a repeat of Summer 2016 as I did get tired of the constant downpours in June but the temperature stats for the season as a whole are quite decent. Now for a warm dry September before autumn proper.
  17. Not a bad outlook it has to be said. For once it looks like August is delivering something summery this year rather than being plunged into Autumn a month early like recent years.
  18. Not had much time to scrutinise the models this summer but they make for rather pleasing viewing today. The fly in the ointment over the next few days looks to be weather fronts draped west to east over the UK but either side its looking drier and much warmer. And a brief very warm/hot spell to look forward to midweek.
  19. It looks like we have traded in the cool easterlies for unsettled westerlies over here. There have been no days that I would call very warm, let alone hot, but Saturday might just scrape 25c here. So it's a below par summer so far here but not terribly bad though.
  20. Apart from one day last week there has always been a noticeable coolness to the wind here. May be different though if the warm spell comes off at the end of the month, that is unless the high builds too far NE and drags in yet more easterlies.
  21. eastern coastal areas are probably looking at a 10c rise in temperature over the weekend from barely in double figures to the low 20s, especially into next week. Summer proper is on the way.
  22. You wouldn't think we were under upper temperatures of 10c given how cool it has been over eastern parts. I guess that's the price to pay for being sat next to a large relatively cold North Sea, while the further away you go the better it has been. For the 3rd night in a row I'm laying in bed listening to howling winds outside.
  23. At least its the right time of year for warm records to be going!! Got a bit tired of seeing all that warmth in December at the wrong time of year.
  24. Will definately feel like weve jumped from winter straight into Summer with these sort of temperatures. Showers around mind you but the general feel of things will be vastly different to that of a week ago.
  25. These sort of temperatures would do nicely after such a cold and unsettled week.
