Shows how crap our summer has been when 20c is considered good.

    3. Milhouse

      Milhouse

      Ended up reaching 24c

    4. reef

      reef

      25.3C here today, surprisingly high.

  2. 25c in London at the moment from a rather unremarkable looking slack westerly. Makes you wonder how high it could get if we had more favourable synoptics.

    1. Slowpoke

      Slowpoke

It's even hit 21C in Blackpool today

  3. 28c currently in the south east. Big underestimation by the GFS which showed just 23c

    1. Harry

      Harry

GFS is often wrong with temperatures! As a general rule, during summer when the air is both humid and arriving from the South, always add at LEAST 2-3C on to the figure its stating

    2. Eugene

      Eugene

I find GFS 2M temp charts to be generally ok, if you dont expect them to be exactly right everywhere then you will be happy with them :)...25C here just like GFS 06Z shows

  4. A definite different feel to things outside. Its warm for the first time in ages.

Yup! Last few days the low dew points very apparent - chilly feeling, very March like! Today though a lovely transformation :D

    3. Milhouse

      Milhouse

And its sunny too. Shows you dont need low dew points for sunny blue skies.

First (and last probably) nice afternoon this month here.

  5. A mild night in store for a change. I'm getting a bit fed up with temperatures plumetting once the sun goes down

  6. A nice countryfile forecast that was very typical of the years before 2007. Temps in the low to mid 20s with not much rain around.

  7. Add the Great Yorkshire Show to list of cancelled events this Summer. Very sad.

    1. Bottesford

      Bottesford

Yeah a really challenging year for outdoor events & gardeners too. Factor in flood damage, reduced domestic tourism and increased coughs & colds (keeping people off work) it must have cost a fortune to the economy.

  9. All those who thought/hoped that the Olympics would be a washout should eat a large slice of humble pie. Its not been bad at all. I well and truly believe we have overcome that dreadful pattern that plagued the first half of summer.

Agreed Aaron! It's more than comfortable to go outside in a t-shirt. That's all that's needed for enjoyment!

Who hoped for a washout? Weather this week's been fine with me.

Maybe you should name & shame?

Having been in the best area for weather for a lot of the summer, I think I came off worse today. 21C max with outbreaks of rain most of the day.

    4. Eugene

lol it was as warm as I expected

  11. Another week and the sun will set an hour later than it did in mid December. Slowly but surely edging back to lighter evenings.

    1. Bottesford

      Bottesford

Yes darkest period is now ending. The snow helps it feel lighter - I could actually see my keys when I went to open the door! Be very glad when the dark afternoons are behind us that's for sure.

      Costa Del Fal

No but lots of spring bulbs are through here tree starting to get buds and the Hebe is still in flower from last year

  13. Arguably a better day here than yesterday. Max a little lower at 18.8c but bags of sunshine and lighter winds.

    1. Thundery wintry showers

      Thundery wintry showers

Here the sunshine helped to raise the temperature higher than yesterday's- 18.0 as opposed to 17.1!

    2. Captain Shortwave

      Captain Shortwave

two nice days on the bounce. Was in Norwich yesterday where the temperature reached 21 degree :)

  14. Cant help but get excited by tonights models. I find myself so much more upbeat when we have some good weather to look forward to.

    1. Bottesford

      Bottesford

      You me both! Fingers crossed

  15. Contrasting fortunes tomorrow. For the south its a taste of summer with maxes of 20c. For the north its back to Winter with 6c and snow.

  16. Evening warmth and sunshine here. Feeling very summery.

    1. Milhouse

      Milhouse

Seems we have done well for sunshine and temps over here given the cloud that was forecast.

  17. Fantastic light levels today with the dry clear air and the noticeably higher sun.

  18. Fed up of these unseasonably chilly nights. Feels like October out there.

well i had condensation coming out of my mouth this evening and it is very chilly, really feels like late spetember/october

    3. Bottesford

      Bottesford

Yes it does feel like October. Everything damp and me needing a coat on for cycling (something generally not needed for summer). Average would be fine - below average is not!

    4. DAVID SNOW

      DAVID SNOW

      Ground frost tonight.

  19. Finally got rid of that mist and murk that has hung around for several days. Feels nicer out there as a result.

Warm & sunny here in N Yorkshire today!

  21. First day here where it can be truly be described as springlike. Tulips and daffs emerging and the first crocus flowering. Wonderful!

Nottingham Watnall hit 30.6c on the 1st August so I'm sure most of the city would have

    4. Bottesford

      Bottesford

Yeah I got about 1c down - could be down to my sensor or just local topography. Or even the proximity of the sensor to the much cooler house. Just not sure...

  23. Good to see Summer is back, even if it is just for one day. Blue skies and 21.3c outside.

    1. 95 Degrees

      95 Degrees

GFS 12z isn't to bad for mid/late next week either, although will only be short-lived as heat can't hold for long as usual.

  24. I dont get the big deal with cool clear air masses when its cloudy by midday and temperatures really poor for early July

    1. Somerset Squall

      Somerset Squall

Wasn't too cloudy here, yes, not unbroken sunshine but hey. I don't know what the temperature was where you are but it peaked at 22C here today. I hope to never see 29/30C again for the rest of this Summer, becuase in this country that type of heat is horrible IMO.

    2. Milhouse

      Milhouse

yes i see temperatures widely reached 20c elsewhere so its been quite a bit cooler on the east coast

  25. I love the aromatic fragrance of Spring. A sign that nature is waking up again.
