  1. Oh dear, just 12c forecast for here tomorrow. Really is bad. Sunday looks the day when some slightly warmer air will come into the mix.

Just 11.8C max here today. Utterly vile week and days of dross still to come until this rotten northerly flow is cut off.

      Milhouse

Seems we have done well for sunshine and temps over here given the cloud that was forecast.

  4. A definite different feel to things outside. Its warm for the first time in ages.

Yup! Last few days the low dew points very apparent - chilly feeling, very March like! Today though a lovely transformation :D

    3. Milhouse

      Milhouse

And its sunny too. Shows you dont need low dew points for sunny blue skies.

Costa, I agree that most winters are mild that's why we need to celebrate every cold spell.

Forecast looks abysmal for down here. I don't expect it to be as warm as last week, where i almost hit 14°C

      Lettucing Gutted

I'll push summer down the cliff too, Karyo!

  7. First day here where it can be truly be described as springlike. Tulips and daffs emerging and the first crocus flowering. Wonderful!

  8. I washed my car only last Sunday. Now its almost as bad as it was before. Such a mucky time of year :(

    1. IanR

      IanR

agree millhouse, the salt they use dirties the surface of the road, dirties the pavements and hedgerows , its exteremely bad for the environment, and people call mild weather 'muck' lol everehere looks dirty the next day after a gritter has been around, the ice and frost melts and goes dirty looking, but the grit saves lives no doubt, so an evil necessity in icy weather

      Nick L

Yep. Couldn't even see out of my mirrors today, only had it washed last week.

  9. Tweet from Matt Hugo 2 days ago: 'Matthew Hugo @MattHugo81 · Jul 12 I'd say with medium to high confidence that the 'writing is on the wall' for pretty much the remainder of July to now generally be unsettled' .....LOL!

I have to agree. The last couple of months, Mr Hugo has been way off the mark.

      Captain Shortwave

The ECM tonight has not backed down an inch. Serious high heat and humidity this weekend followed by a very warm and sunny week by the looks of it.

  10. Never rule out a nice summery spell popping up at short notice!

      lassie23

      or the other way round

  11. June 2007 or June 2012 it definately isnt. The models and full of potential for summer to get going very soon. It could all go wrong, but how about we bother about that if it happens and not be so pessimistic with whats been shown NOW.

      Thundery wintry showers

Although the last few days' operational runs were mostly showing low pressure over the UK, I noticed that the ECMWF ensemble mean frequently had the trough out west and southerly winds over Britain. It seems that the operational runs today have picked up on this and brought the trough a bit further west too.

    3. Eugene

      Eugene

Yet scott you are foolish enough to believe any runs that back up your weather preferences, it can so easily change back to a less favourable solution for you, don't look at GEM 12Z if I was you, wouldn't believe anything past T+72 hrs TBH, models change all the time and to pin your hopes on them is very foolish indeed

    4. Eugene

      Eugene

Also the main thrust of the plume looks like heading into Germany, we are stuck in cooler but still warm SSW'lys, could head back our way of course but after many years of experience of watching the models they usually push further East as we get even nearer

  12. I love the aromatic fragrance of Spring. A sign that nature is waking up again.

Yeah I got about 1c down - could be down to my sensor or just local topography. Or even the proximity of the sensor to the much cooler house. Just not sure...

      Isolated Frost

21c max; rain, sun and now rain again.

    4. Eugene

      Eugene

lol it was as warm as I expected

  16. I take back what i said about today being a washout here. Its been dry for much of the day and reached 23.5c. The current temp of 21.1c is not far off the max expected at this time of year.

We got 23.7c being dry from 7am-5pm with sunshine. Really not a bad day overall.

Yes not bad if you don't mind heavy rain and thunder, very wet day here overnight and late this afternoon

    4. ANYWEATHER

      ANYWEATHER

Yep same max temp here. but it has been an afternoon washout, nearly an inch of rain!

  17. Some stations are coming up to a month since recording a max below 20c.

    1. Bottesford

      Bottesford

Just two days below 20c here. In a perfect summer month that'd be zero! Still - best month since July 2006.

    2. gottolovethisweather

      gottolovethisweather

Three days below 20c here in Newbury but they were on the 1st to the 3rd. In spite of the warmth, the predomninant wind has been from the NNW, albeit that my anemometer has been irregularly reporting

  18. Only 1 more day of this cloudy cool rubbish to go then its back to blazing sunshine and warmth. Lovely charts this evening from an IMBY point of view.

  19. So i go on weatheronline to see the max temps for the day and see ones more like January. Infact go back to any summer month and its the same problem.

  23. March saw repeated attempts from the Atlantic thwarted by blocking high pressure to the north and we remained the dull raw cloudy. It would be sods law if now its summer the Atlantic bulldozed its way through with ease after having such a hard time during march.

      Eugene

lol ok ask people if they think June is stormier(atlantic based) than March on average and see how many agree with you, maybe someone could start a poll on the forums

    3. Eugene

      Eugene

We aren't talking of the season of Spring though but March in particular as mentioned by milhouse

    4. Eugene

      Eugene

Of course westerlies do pick up in June after May when they are at their lowest but March definitely can have a more active atlantic than June particularly early and late month, gales can be almost as strong as in December in March whilst June they aren't as strong, atlantic depressions are more slow moving in June

  24. West is best for a change in the upcoming week. Sunshine may be limited but plenty of dry weather around and temperatures around average for the time of year.

Only a one in four chance of 80F in the first week of June

  25. Nice to see the best of the warmth over here again and not for the first time this Spring. Hopefully it will be the same this Summer too. Congratulations to Aberdeen on its little taste of Summer today achieving 20c.

We had a brief glimpse of sunshine in Manchester early afternoon but since then it's been almost completely cloudy and the temperature has barely risen, have only managed 16C here, should be better tomorrow though
