  1. Not expecting much from today with a current temp of 14.9c which I only expect to rise by 2 or 3 degrees all day. But I like to look on the bright side. If it were last July it would have been this cool but raining as well. Friday through to Sunday looking better for these parts.
  2. After the frustration of living near the east coast it was nice to experience some inland warmth in Leicester today. After a coolish start it warmed up and upon leaving Leicester at 7:30 the car was showing 26c. By the time I got to Lincoln it was 22c and back in rural East Yorkshire at 9:45 it was just 16c. But I suppose, given Reef's temperature from 4 miles away it still got reasonably warm here during the day. It seems the warmth is lost so much quicker here than inland.
  3. Clear blue skies now which has enabled the temperature to rise to a max of 18.3c
  4. Oh dear even some light drizzle. Tomorrow should be better, and i wont be spending it in such a low cloud prone area.
  5. GEM throws in another fantastic run with high pressure persisting well on into next week and signs of a renewed push of high pressure from the Azores later on.
  6. UKMO and ECM do want to prolong the settled spell for the southern half of the UK into next week with a ridge still presisting. The Northern half of the UK would see more cloud and would be cooler as a result. But still scope for the mid 20s to continue across southern England to the end of the ECM op.
  7. Then a rebuild of pressure from the SW going by the GFS 6z supported by the the GEFS mean. But before then we could see another attempt at reaching 30c on Friday and Saturday.
  8. Max of 21.6c here so not as warm as yesterday. Although I was about 20 miles further inland all day where it would have been 2/3 degrees higher.
  9. Whats so impressive about the ECM is how strong high pressure remains to the west of the UK but extending a ridge into northwestern Europe. The cool flow of the east coast looks a temporary feature too with westerlies resuming for some by Friday and for all by Saturday.
  10. Observing the direction that low is heading in the latter stages of the ECM it doesnt seem to be heading towards the UK thanks to high pressure remaining strong. It would mean a transition to a more unsettled regime for northwestern Scotland.
  11. Take a trip to the coast Laserguy. A quick trip down the M180 and your there. It was only 17c at Bridlington today for example which you would have liked.
  12. Playing cricket today and doing the same tomorrow. Not the ideal conditions to open the bowling but its a great way to get out and get the most out of the warm spell. Maxed out at 24.6c. May edge a bit higher tomorrow but the arrival of the easterly could well restrict that.
  13. ECM ends very warm and dry. With low pressure tracking west to east across Iceland at T+240 i cant see anything other than a continuation of the summery conditions. Any breakdown on the GFS remains far into FI.
  14. Once again its a very good ECM run. Lets be honest we are very rarely going to see a run that pleases everyone. Temperatures will likely fall during next week but they will only fall back to the low to mid 20s before high pressure descends back over the UK cutting off the cooler, cloudier flow from the NE meaning that temperatures should be back on the rise.
  15. The whole point of summer for me is to dress down and get outdoors more. Hopefully we are entering a period where i can wear shorts for weeks on end. Also, it makes a change not to hear people talking about rain and floods. It was happening all too often last year.
  16. GFS has the warmth and settled weather persisting throughout the whole run. There are variations in where the best of the warmth will be located but it would be a completely dry run for many areas. Basically, high pressure drifting slightly north throughout the coming week before coming back south during the following week.
  17. The temperatures wont be the talking point about this spell. It will be the persistence of high pressure. August 1990 saw an incredibly warm spell but it only lasted 4/5 days before it came to an abrupt halt with a cool northerly. Just where the GFS has 30c next Friday.
  18. The warm spell has got going here in fine style. It felt very warm and even though it was breezy it was a lovely warm breeze.
