Loud thunder just to the south of here now
-
Looks like I'm in the perfect position to miss everything Might be worth sticking on eurosport if you have it, London to surrey cycling, going to get hit shortly
-
Frequent lightnig to my east and possibly a couple of quiet rumbles. Looks pretty stationary on radar though
-
Couple of flashes to my west and a deep booming rumble. Surprised I can hear it considering how far away it is
-
Got loads of videos/pics of lightning last night, but got this one interesting pic! What do you guys reckon?
Had a similar looking feature here, amazing!
-
can see a very defined wall cloud and near constant thunder now
The leading edge looks like something from the US plains! Very defined!

First rumbles of thunder heard now
-
lightning to my south and west now albeit quite far away still
-
im in stevo i cant see them
Not here quite yet, was in reference to the recent lightning over surrey south west london. I reckon it won't be long before we'll see flickers to the south http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime?lang=de check out this lightning detector

Anyone got an explanation for why we're seeing these thunderstorms so far east? Is it just a case of the unpredictability of plume events?
-
http://driftwoodbeachbar.com/webcam/ frequent lightning on this webcam
-
The storm is not even here and I'm witnessing the best lightning since 2005, first CG in 9 years too- this side of the Purbeck hill. What a display! I am wetting Mapantz.
What about last July? Had the best storm I've seen in years whilst I was on holiday in Swanage.

Really been getting going around the Cherbourg peninsular the last 15 minutes
-
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post but what sort of temperatures are likely to be seen on the south coast, Bournemouth area in particular next week. Gfs indicating temps of up to 30 around Southampton mid week..
-
The 6z nmm is rolling out now and shows an mcs move up the spine of the country so things have shifted west slightly
-
Look up in the archives 24 June 1994, which a whopper of an MCS across the SEhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5T3NaLp_AC4https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MTLTnz-g57gWould be nice later this week
I've watched these videos plenty of times, I would have been 4 months old! The charts for this week don't look too dissimilar either which is promising

Looking forward to the potential this coming week, hopefully I'm in a decent position being in the south east. Also heading down to Dorset on Saturday for a week, almost exactly a year from the time I went last year and had a great night time storm head over from France. Can't see that happening again though!

Rumble of thunder here from somewhere to the west, all a bit messy out there really.
Edit: North east of here, cell developed very quickly
-
gone black to my north and north east, couple of cells gone up quickly heading away from me
-
The whole northern horizon here is filled with anvils and towering Cbs

Cells popping up within 20 minutes North of Cambridge! Whole line of them.
-
Storm edged it's way past Stevenage about 45 minutes ago, few IC sferics and loud thunder. Another cell just skirted to the south, poked my head out the window and 2 seconds later saw a nice CG about 3 miles away. Neither were very active lightning wise but the rain was torrential.
Got my eyes on the cells firing over MK way for round 3.
-
Seen a few huge flashes and rumbles from over luton way, seems elevated in nature.
-
Some strong radar returns south of London but no lightning detected, looks like the stuff in the channel will slip east of me too. Hoping for at least a distant light show!

Here's a couple of screen shots from some footage I took with my phone last night, looking over Brighton. Had a number of storms pass through from about 9:30pm - 3:00am.
