  1. Yep - that's Keswick in the foreground with Derwent Water behind. I live in Penrith so thought I'd pop out for a stroll only to find most of Liverpool, Stoke on Trent, Birmingham and London were also there. Hmmmm.

  9. Morning Mike, they look like Nacreous clouds potentially: What is so special about Nacreous Clouds- mother of pearl Polar Stratospheric Clouds WWW.NETWEATHER.TV Way up in the Stratosphere there is very cold air above us. It's causing excitement for those who watch such things as a precursor to a possible cold, winter spell. This air can produce Nacreous Clouds PSCs

  17. Rather better picture than I have managed out of my study window in Nelson, Lancashire. I have a pair of bonny, bulky Bullfinch visiting my sunflower and seed feeders about 15 feet from the window. Lovely to see them. Everything outnumbered by Goldfinch....I've counted 20 at any one time.

  19. Lovely photo. Used to have these pretty birds on my feeder at the top of my garden, which has a copse/wood at the bottom. However, for some reason I haven’t seen any locally now for a few years ??

  21. It was only visible for maybe 5 mins around an hour after the main squall line passed over, I only saw it because we were outside helping a neighbour replace some lost tiles and repair his garage roof, which had been damaged. It was the first calm spell after the squall. It may have been visible over Beverley but blink and you would have missed it

  23. Below right of the moon you can now see Venus in the twilight, setting about an hour after the sun, and further over to the right you might just catch a glimpse of Jupiter. Venus will become much more prominent in the sky in the next few weeks.

  31. It was very impressive. I asked the experts here what it was as I don't know much about cloud formations and thought it might be a lenticular cloud. Still a rare sight here in the UK

  37. Yes, a seriously reddish sun at times here in Reading too. Around 3pm the sky was dark enough for some street lights to come on and a really unusual colour.
